IT is too bad that the principles of people being equal in all aspects and need to have mutual respect even if their ideas are different has faded so much that new conflicts are rising.
Remember that the ideology of the Nazi's was not just about a single group of religion, it was that they were superior to anyone else and humanity should be based on their 'race' only. Today there are many groups who feel that those with another ideology, religion or race are inferior and who openly wish harm on them. They seem to have forgotten that this will only lead to more bloodshed.
The amount of people that got killed or injured is mind boggling. It is more than the population of almost any European country. Image all of your country dying or being injured and you got the idea of what happened.
Choose to respect even those that think very different from you. Choose to always use words and never violence.
The ideology doesn't matter shit. British politicians gave speeches about how horrible hitler and his policies were, yet gave medals to General Dyer for the jaliawala bagh massacre, claiming him to be the 'savior' of India.
While hitler gassed six million to death, three million people died in Bengal after watching their children, friends and family painfully starve to death. Not just that but there are even records that the british officers positioned in Bengal went on 'human' hunts when the famine was at it's peak. It was perhaps the easiest famine in history to avoid. There was more than enough food in Bengal to feed everybody, most of it went to Britain, save for the rich and the british living in Bengal at the time. Today Churchill is regarded as a hero, Hitler as a villain. The wikipedia articles on the holocaust are numberless, the one on the Bengal Famine isn't even bigger than the third section of the holocaust article. I bet you never read about that in your textbook however.
PS: Keep in mind that the estimates come directly from sources provided by the british government. If they're hinting to the number being three million, imagine what it really could be.
History will be kind to me for I intend to write it.
History is written by the winners. Hitler wasn't even a tiny rodent compared to many people that are regarded as 'heroes' today. Churchill was an advocate of following the nazi's example and building gas chambers in Africa to take care of unruly tribes. Ideology doesn't matter shit. All these people did unspeakable acts with different ideologies. The only thing common was the greed for power and money.
