But gaining vPro, VT-d and other useful virtualization technologies that are dropped on K chips.

Devil's Canyon ones (i7-4790k and i5-4690k) do have VT-d though.

That aside, to OP - If you do not miss out certain features (overclocking, VT-d, integrated GPU), you can go for Xeon one if money is a limitation.

That is true, but is he going to need any form of virtualization? I doubt it.

I doubt it as well, but I was just listing the facts. If he wants to save a couple bucks on the CPU if he doesn't need overclocking or iGPU, then the Xeon is just as good choice as a 4770 or a 4790 would be.

If he wants to save a couple of bucks he SHOULDN'T buy a Xeon, instead buy a dedicated CPU that is ment for gaming/consumer use that is better and cheaper.

Did you even read anything I said? Or you just choose to ignore it because you see a "Xeon" in the sentence? Sigh.

As said before if you want to build a gaming PC to play GTA V straight up, you will be paying alot more then £300, if you do chose to go with the PC that you have just chosen you will not be able to get the full potential that the PC version of GTA V has in which it will really not be worth as you have a PS4, I myself primary bought GTA V due to the 60fps and the beautiful 1080p settings the game brings, my opnion, wait a little longer till you have a higher budget and go all out, or, do what I did, buy bit by bit it will be much worth it in the long run.

My opnion I cannot tell you not to, nor to go ahead with it.  ;)

Yes I did read and you're not making any sense.

Putting aside my gaming PC for now as I am in desperate need of a laptop.

So I'm looking for a cheap entry-level laptop to do the following

    • Microsoft Word/Powerpoint for college
    • General websurfing
  • Streaming (XMBC/Kodi)
[/li][/list]

Will the 'HP stream 11' do the think? It's in the name itself but still want clarification

I'm going for a cheap laptop because I am at the library everyday and it is a pain in the ass to commute with my current laptop. Lightweight is also a feature I am going for. Realistically, the only thing that will be running on the laptop is a lightweight browser that has couple of tabs open including youtube and microsoft word. I doubt I'll even put anti virus on it. The XBMC/Kodi comes in when I need a little break from studies and would benefit watching an episode. Will this support 720p/1080p movies? Please get back to me!

It only has 32GB of storage. Windows will eat up large portion of it (about 20GB + updates and some other general files), leaving you with pretty much nothing.
Intel Celeron is quite low-end processor, I'd suggest looking for a newer Pentium, i3 or AMD. 2GB of RAM for a 64-bit Windows is not to be even considered IMO.

Not sure what you mean by support 720p/1080p movies. Pretty much any decent processor is able to playback one.
