IMO the current /area would be fine(although at this point you might as well remove the command) if there was some other way to track someone, e.g. phone tracking, tracking bugs. That would also promote RP instead of simply making it near-impossible to find anyone, which is needed for specific role-play situations, like law enforcement tracking a 911 call, a phone call with a kidnapper, etc..

Indeed, /area is pretty pointless at the moment, as 9 times out of 10 the person is in LS, other then Soprano and Gvardia who are in Queens/Chinatown.

If we remove /area we will have to move to an another roleplay level of the server.

I don't think the current /area is pointless, on a contrary, it suits our current 'level' perfectly.

And like Dennis said we would have to go on whole different level, which you can't just switch over night, you gotta go step by step,  not 10 steps ahead, and completly removing /area would be 10 steps ahead.

I don't know about you guys, but I noticed a massive improvement in people's roleplay, before you would have to roam around finding a person to roleplay, now you barley can find someone who's not willing to roleplay.

Gotta say the same.

The /area improvement was great, imo.  :app:

Well yes, of course, it's great for criminals, it makes it harder for law enforcement to track you and you don't really have any RP use for /area anyway(and if you're so big on the whole roleplay aspect of finding people without /area, nobody is forcing you to use it :)).

On the other side, law enforcement does, we need to track various calls, alarms, emergencies, etc.. There should be some tools other than /area, which is completely useless now, provided to us.

Indeed, add a location to 911 calls, add the possibility to track phone numbers, track vehicles plates. (Yes plates, not player IDs), etc...

Lets keep it simple instead of adding 40 new additional things

Would be too easy for criminals if there was only one way for cops to find out where they are.

If we could only track phones:
Cop tries to track a suspect's phone number
Suspect turns off his phone

If we could only track vehicles:
Cop tries to track down a vehicle plate
Suspect changes his car

etc...

Would be a first time since criminals have always had a hard time evading cops with /area.

Then don't come moaning when you call 911 and no one responds.

1.This is a criminal based game.
2. Criminals tracks other criminals more, then law enforcement does.

You got /mpc right? The RHL has been made like 30 minutes minimum, if I'm not mistaken. What else you need?  What, you wanna special /area with detail location just for cops? Forget about it.
Then don't come moaning when you call 911 and no one responds.
Why would no one respond on a 911 call? Its yours/theirs job to respond right? Its not like its a matter of personal will, are you gonna respond or not. Or it shouldn't be.

with /area being removed, we are now able to roleplay realisticaly and actualy have interactions with the cops. 30mins RHL does take a toll sometimes, but its enjoyable

Because rarely does somebody mention his exact location in it.
