Hi Argonathians,
This is the second developer diary for the Argonath RPG VC:MP Server. It is the sequel of the
previous developer diary which explained how smuggling would work.
Today, we will exhibit the rewards granted through smuggling.
Each smuggler who survives the Yacht journey receives one random reward, which could be:
- 50% chance to be a weapon
- 25% chance for an item which is exclusively available through smuggling.
- 25% chance for a transferable economic deal that grants you discounts on huge purchases.
The probabilities are split as:
A triangular trade system is a trade cycle established by 3 parties who holds interests of other parties. Each party trades their surplus goods in exchange for what they need. The three criminal parties in Argonath would be:
- Scripts(disguised as Smugglers, Colombians etc) who inject the items and money into the economy.
- Organized Crime: They are crime families who do not get into open shoot-out against police. Their illegal activities are not public and are usually well role-played. They would be looking for one of the deals or items that can only be earned through smuggling and are good value in long term. They will pay good money upfront to players who possess the items they need.
- Other criminals: They are newbies, low level criminals, street thugs, gangsters who smuggle a lot. They do not hesitate to get in trouble with cops hence, may possess items that are exclusively available through smuggling. They will be looking forward to sell any deal or item that they can not use or store to benefit them in short term.
This system aims to encourage player to player competition and trading. It also opens a primary method of income for criminals, which can be used by experienced veterans and new players alike.
The next developer diary would introduce the Drug Garnering system designed to bring cocaine, heroin and weed into the server.
