If you're talking about Gimli, he's the Scripter2 in my example, who actually realized how much things were retarded and changed it, but he went inactive, and the rest of them changed it back to what it was.

My opinion:

- Server was popular at the height of RS4 (100+)
- Management wanted to upgrade to RS5 (since last RS4 backup was 3 months ago and code was not maintainable)
- Players voted on the forum in favour of keeping RS4 and rolling back changes 3 months prior
- Management refused to acknowledge players overwhelming request to keep RS4
- Management pressed ahead with RS5 upgrade despite scripts not being complete
- Management decision came at a time of SA:MP popularity decline
- A large player base left the server
- RS5 did not incorporate the same feel as RS1, RS2, RS3 or RS4.
- Scripts/functionality were too advanced for the demographics of available players
- Economy has stalled continously with management refusing to sponsor key groups by imposing unrealistic pre-exquisites
- Development staff changed bringing a new vision for direction further deterring us from our heritage
- IC/OOC rise and invasion led to the server being split into 2 sides
- Large portion of IC/OOC promotors left taking many with them
- Remaining player base remains (often long term veterans who are getting older with other responsiblities)
- SA:MP decline accelerates (would you play Tetris if you could play GTA V?)

We've killed our server with our own hands.

It will never be the same again.

RS5 was the wrong decision, at the wrong time at the wrong place.

Sadly, I agree with a couple of these points. Timing of RS5 and the rise of IC/OOC promoters is pretty much what took us down.

My personal opinion is that SA:MP itself is on a constant downhill. Some may argue that there's 30k of users, but here's the thing, most are in Russia, and a lot of them are bots. As a test, I joined one of these "Russian" servers and noticed a correlation that roughly 200 players were inactive or were fake (User1, User2, etc.)

Now that we identified the problem, how do we resolve it?

I think the following should happen:
-Go back to our roots. Be different, not the same as any other RL:RP servers.
-Have the ability, and freedom to allow free roam. I sometimes spend hours just driving around to clear my head.
-Heavily promote our servers (hello Advertisement Team!) and also see if we can get on the Hosted Tab.
-Allow developers to launch scripts but only on the dev server. We can't have this constant roll back of scripts. If the dev user base likes it, push it to the main.
-Stop banning people permanently from the community. This one is a tough one because I know some people are asshats who never learn.
-Don't let scripts replace RP.
-Promote a more positive environment. More server-wide events.
-Accept criticism from users and not be defensive. This also includes when people address the community leaders.

Like I mentioned, stop with this pure RL:RP bullshit trend that's becoming more active. We are a roleplay server but RP should NOT be required 100 percent of the time.

I don't think it should be discourage. Most of the fun times I had on Argonath was some of the events we did as a server. I'm not saying creating a Free-Roam server but instead stop discouraging it.

I was one of these "problematic" people on the server. Shit, I was community banned twice. And yet I'm still back and better than ever. Just think about it.
