The issue was we couldn't get anyone with the skills, time, and motivation to keep the server running optimally. Additionally, we couldn't get get the majority to agree on what was a best course of action. I agree with Axis and love Overpoch, but unfortunately agree that it required skill that nobody had in order to setup, configure, and maintain.
In terms of server hardware, we do have the capacity to deploy another server and I could easily setup a VM to support either a DayZ server or ArmA 3. The thing is we'd need to decide now on which course is best. Another option people have backed in the past was re-launching rust, only this time under proper management.
So what do we need?
1. To decide on if we want DayZ mod (via ArmA 2), something like Wasteland (not recommended), ArmA 3 (RP?) or ArmA 3 mission style. Additionally, we could also support Rust(y) again. This would need to be a majority as we don't have the resource availability to run more than one.
(if ArmA-based)
2. A development/maintainer person with the skill, availability, and motivation to setup the game server, configure the game server, customize the game server, and continue to maintain the game server. Do note: skill does not mean the ability to watch a YouTube video, but rather, actual experience.
