The Turkish military have reportedly shot down a Russian military aircraft on the border with Syria.

About time someone did something about their constant incursions into foreign airspace.

Implying that the Turkish Military doesn't do that? Even the greek does. I hope this doesn't end badly.

The last we need is more countries on the verge of war with each other.  :neutral2:

Russia has done it to Europe for years, they may not have flown directly into our airspaces but they scrape very close to it all the time before returning back to Russia, though their submarines have actually been entering foreign waters, there was Sweden last year and now it's suspected they are in waters above Scotland, the RAF, Royal Navy and a French recon plane is searching for that, though it's probably already left.

The last we need is more countries on the verge of war with each other.  :neutral2:
WW3...

I think this is hilarious to be honest, I don't think Russia thought Turkey would do it, however I doubt anything will come of this, Russia will likely just try to quiet it down to avoid shame that one of their jets is capable of being shot down, I imagine they tell Russians that they are the worlds most advanced and indestructible aircraft...

I doubt it means war or conflict in any term. The Turkish F-16s had shot down the plane after repeatedly warning the russian aircraft without any responds. Every country would do the same in such situation. It's just a violation.

2015, this year. We had 15 Russian aircraft violations on Swedish territory. We always send up a fighter jet to investigate and communicate. If the pilot do not respond they have clearance to shoot it down.

Hopefully, it does not mean too much.  :)

I dont know the politics between the two countries, but I know this stems from the cold war is which everyone is butt-hurt from a non-winning pissing match.

Politics aside, it was just a multi-million dollar craft destroyed, both Pilot and Co-Pilot seemed to deploy chutes and were uninjured (as far as early reports go). Money can be replaced and reprinted. Human beings cannot be. Regardless of what those pilots were told to do, they can walk away and see their families again.

There is solace in that specific truth.

Guess who's back?

Oh really? Just BBC reported that 1 pilot is captured and in the hands of Turkey and another is possibly dead, reports suggested that 'unfriendly militants' had recorded a video showing his corpse...

Finally. They got what they deserved, to be honest.

I do not want war, but atleast for once Russian provocations have bitten them in the ass. It was not a stab in the back, as Putin called it, it was the repercussions of their agressive foreign policy biting them back.

They have been constantly violating the Baltic and Swedish airspaces, making NATO jets from Lithuania and Sweden rise up to chase them out on nearly weekly basis. Do you see any other reasoning of this other than just plain provocation against the NATO and attempts to intimidate the Baltics?

I adore Turkey for being to locate its testicles and show these war-monging bastards that their actions can and will have repercussions. Maybe they will stand down with their stupid planes after that.

Apparently a Russian helicopter trying to survey the wreckage has now been shot down...

And one of the jet pilots is dead...

A shame. He fell as a victim of his own countries foreign policy.

Lol the bullshit, stupidity, and hypocrisy a person can read here is hilarious.

>The biggest logistic support of ISIS, next to Saudia Arabia, shots down an airplane of the army that's destroying ISIS more then all other countries together.
>British and Baltic people celebrates.

When #prayforlondon happens, make sure you look yourself in the mirror, and realize just how stupid you went.

Greek and Turkish planes have chased each other over foreign borders countless times in the past, I don't think anyone was shot down yet though.
