We are glad to officially announce we are actively working on RS5.2 with an unconfirmed early new year release date. Due to the changes planned as of tomorrow no new updates will be pushed to RS5.1 except for critical bug fixes.
What will RS5.2 hold feature wise? A new business system, a new trucking system, factories, crafting, warehouses, proper logistics system, new drug system, new drug market, new economy system, new stock market, new criminal updates, multi-language support, a new Internet and smartphone system and so much more! We have announced a number of the updates already, but there are handful of things to be included that you can't even begin to imagine! We've been reviewing the community input and considered as much as we could to push forward with these updates. We're confident you'll love what we have in surprise.
What will RS5.2 feature under the hood? Improved database performance (resulting in reduced crashing of certain dialogs [e.g /groupmembers]), improved performance monitoring. We are updating a legacy version of our database plugin which is riddled with a memory leak, updating it alone will reduce so many problems and lag experienced by the server.
With all of this in mind, we will need new testers because we will need to re-test everything. Yes, we do mean everything again from the basics to more comprehensive new systems. Dig up that old application for quality assurance team and submit one if you are interested. If you already posted one, post a new one. We will need people who are able to commit at least 5 hours a week to testing once we have our core updated.
