Dear Santa, I have put together a very small and in my opinion reasonable list:
  • A stable host
  • VCPD to be active
  • A new script
Cheers.
2/3, not bad.

Happy new year everyone! Looking forward to the new year, our scripters have lots of cool stuff in the works. ;)

I was actually looking forward to return VCPD and VC:MP as I have much more time now, but for me it seems the community is once again dead at the moment. I don't remember who said it, but the phrase "VCMP is built to exist for two months during the year" is spot-on at this point. What's with the such unstable activity guys. RS2 is almost perfect now, why?

The year welcomed Argonath 3.0, the much awaited new script that would utilize all of 0.4's new features. Though not 100 percent complete it has introduced many new features and a stable foundation for what's to come. No longer is Argonath a prisoner to host problems which was a constant annoyance for years. King, Nylez, and Marco were new editions to the A-team and VCPD was finally put out of its misery of inactive leadership.

There has, however, been a lack of regular players over the past couple of months. I'd like to know why and any kind of feedback is welcomed by Management. There is plenty of new players coming and going but there just isn't enough regulars and active groups at the moment to keep new players interested.

It's a bit of a chain reaction. I don't know why suddenly everyone went inactive after the summer holidays but I personally check like at least every week if there's someone online, and sadly that's not the case. My days of going ingame waiting for others to join are over I'm afraid, so I just join SA:MP at that point.

Really hope we'll get an active period again. At one point this year we were more active than SA:MP.

That's great, you might see me lurking the streets once again sometime soon. Please wipe the dust off my VCPD desk.

As for the inactivity - lack of neutral, non-government or non-criminal jobs. While SA:MP has three branches for the players to join: criminals, law, and neutral/bussiness etc., VC:MP only has the criminals and the law aspect, which at times makes it seem as if we're a CNR server and people leave.

We both know that there were regulars active but gone now, as I had a brief discussion with Kessu during VW, they were the key in keeping the players in the server. Some of them are banned now, others can't be arsed to play again/anymore. I partly belong to the last part, I'm eager to see some proper action in argo but I don't want to get caught up in the usual bs discussions that end up in a losing battle anyway.
My suggestion would be to do a new year banlist clearing but I don't know how many people are banned and  whether this may help with activity.

One of the regulars remain banned and that is Marcell, and he, just like everyone else, will have to go through unban request process.

It's hard to find free time for Argonath when I am officialy in my 3 week homework holiday. And when it happens to check on the server, there are 0 players. I may get more active perhaps next summer.

Anyway, Happy New Year guys!

Everyone desires to see players in Argo before joining hence the server keeps on being empty. I'm sometimes just staying alone in the server and people join but they have no idea what roleplay even is.

Same old faces, same old stories, same old experience...
The new script brought barely anything new, the script is just an excuse to port the server to 4.0 (by the time I played)
Sure the first few weeks were alright, but after that everyone just stopped playing and it just became a tedious chore to play with like 5 people max and none of them being new players that atleast bothered to roleplay.
Admins IMO are overpopulated, there used to be like 5 admins per 8 players and the unban section is way too brutal (mostly for new players) so ease of a bit?

No wonder the server is still inactive if this is how arrogant you are, thinking I'd care about being unbanned after I DMed a manager out of boredom lol. If you want my two cents, I think the era is just dead. 0.4 killed the DM scene thus reducing the player count and most of our players were always just people who migrated / did DM scene part time. The pakis who'd just annoy the shit out of everyone then learn something and become regulars? yeah, they moved on too. The only way to resurrect this is if some dedicated regulars would keep playing daily which a) won't happen b) won't help because new players will be still mostly 10 year olds living in jungles and the desert who can't comprehend enough english to manage to register without smashing their keyboards in. There's just no reason to 'work' on something that is dead. It's one of reasons why I raged during that 2-days-mapping-period, you work a few hours for something and for what? 5 f**cking players who come on once a week / month? the regulars to whom logging on has just become a routine and not any kind of fun?

tldr
vcmp will be dead until there's enough immigration of newbies who keep the server up alive, but there's just no such 'pool' we could draw those people from, SAMP won't die no matter how shit it is/would be, just cause of those newcomers. vcmp has no player base that could support argo, most of them aren't interested in playing something like argo at all. face it, for the last 2 years like 80% of playercount was just regulars, now the difference is some of them just aren't interested in vcmp at all, some are bored of it, some have some shit to do, some just gave up on it. hence why it's dead. In a %, the playerbase was nearly always like this
70% or more = regulars
5% newcomers who had ability to grasp how to co-exist in the server
20% - randoms who couldn't even speak english
5% randoms who couldn't even speak english but could learn to use some basic commands to co-exist while serving as some kind of human bots

Don't get the wrong idea. The server isn't dead. I've been playing today since 12.

It's not arrogance and it in no way implied you will be making an unban request. I merely informed Brian of the current status on regulars being banned (only you) and that we will not be giving out a banlist clear.

Admins IMO are overpopulated, there used to be like 5 admins per 8 players and the unban section is way too brutal (mostly for new players) so ease of a bit?
The number of admins in the team has been around the same always, give or take 1-2, they were most notable in the opening of 0.4 server as the inactive ones were kicked out and new active ones recruited in their place. For longest of times, it was just me and Klaus administrating the server because everyone else was inactive within the team.

Our unban section is actually very lenient towards first timers, but if someone's stupid enough to remake the mistakes of the past then the consequences will be "brutal" as you put it.

And regarding ur random % numbers Marcell, you could not be more wrong. Yes, the regulars gave the server a consistent amount of players lingering about 5-8 in total, while new players increased the playercount to 20 and above.
