About Us:The Social Democratic Party of Los Santos is a political party that was founded early 2016 by a group of Los Santos citizens who would like to participate in political activity while having high ambitions and ideas for the future of the city, hoping to offer the inhabitants a fresh new alternative to the current political situation. The Social Democratic Party believes in the concept of social democracy, which means that our primary goal is to build a just society based on the principles of freedom, equality and solidarity. We thus aim to create the conditions to lead to greater democratic outcomes, committing ourselves to policies to reduce inequality, oppression and poverty.
The Social Democratic Party of Los Santos is made up of different people with different paths of life. Despite that, these people share the same political views, having an essential thing in common: the belief that progress makes prosperity. Hence the origin of our slogan. This diversity of interests and unity of the cause are what keeps the Social Democratic Party of Los Santos, the party of the people, standing and working to ensure its vision is a reality.
Our Aims:
The Social Democratic Party of Los Santos believes that by the strength of our common endeavor we achieve more than we achieve alone, so as to create for each one of us the means to realise our true potential and for all of us a community in which power, wealth and opportunity are accessible by everyone not by the few; where the rights we enjoy reflect the duties we owe and where we live together freely, in a spirit of solidarity, tolerance and respect.
The Social Democratic Party of Los Santos is ambitious for Los Santos' future. We want Los Santos to be a city in which every person has opportunity and dignity. We are a new party, unhindered by the past and the old style of politics. The people of Los Santos have enormous resources of energy, creativity and compassion. We deserve better than an economy that swings between boom and bust; a political system that refuses to be accountable to its citizens; public services that fail those citizens when they need them the most; and a society hampered by division and injustice.
We advocate honest politics that work in the best interests of the people and not the Party or the selected few. We are asking the Los Santos people to join us in building new politics that refect the best of local culture. The most prosperous, inclusive and progressive countries on earth are social democracies. Although the comparison between a real life government and a game government is absurd, we still believe in the applicability of it. We know that a strong, creative, prosperous, fair, equal and democratic city in which everyone has the opportunity to achieve their potential, is not just an aspiration.
It can, and should be, Los Santos' reality.Achieving this requires equal focus on three core areas.
First: Policies that support a healthy, inclusive and progressive society.
Second: Policies that ensure a strong, stable and vibrant economy, and support initiative.
Third: Policies that make politics and government more transparent and responsive to public, rather than Party need.
To these ends we consider the following as a few of our many objectives;
- Free economy: It is widely accepted that free markets are the right mechanism to produce and distibute goods. The common approach is to seek a balance between liberalizing markets as much as possible, whilst allowing for as much state intervention as is needed. In other words, the state intervenes to prevent the formation of monopolies that would destroy small competition. We want to ensure competition and economic liberty.
- Supporting entrepreneurship: Small businesses, entrepreneurship; these are the words used to describe the future of economic growth in Los Santos. The citizens are aware of this. What's missing is the guidance about local action to foster an environment that encourages small business developers. Small businesses not only employ local residents but make our economy vibrant. As they grow, these face new challenges and will likely need resources to support them. We will provide policies to support them.
- Better health care: We favor a free health care system. We recognize the right of every one of us to free medical treatment. Hospitals and clinics should be of an acceptable quality, as well as its infrastructure and personnel.
- Border control: We would like to set up permanent checkpoints at every entrance of Los Santos, in order to increase the local security and prevent malicious individuals and criminal groups from risking the safety of the citizens.
- Taxation policy: For public services to be financed by the state, it is important to plan a taxation policy. It takes money from the free market in order to provide services and goods for the public. Such public goods and services especially benefit the poor, because they pay lower taxes or no taxes and could not otherwise privately finance things like health services. The system of taxation is described as a form of redistribution of wealth in order to promote social justice.
