Went online for a couple minutes and really felt nostalgic; Damn I miss the golden days!

I will literally drop all the shit going on in my life to play RS4 for a week but of course you guys had to fuck it up.

@Devin - Can you relate my topic to today's nonsense then?

Just wanna take a moment to thank whoever was behind reuploading the old RS4 scripts and database. When I first saw Gandalf's post I thought it was a joke, because everyone always said RS5 was rushed because the old RS4 scripts and database had been lost in a server crash, along with its backups. I always thought this was just an excuse and could never really believe there were no backups.

So when at 3AM a friend told me it was actually there, I was pretty blown away by it. I didn't think I'd be able to join, but turns out Teddy let me play after all. It was a real trip down memory lane and I really wish it could've lasted longer. I was there for a good amount of the day, but had nobody told me, I wouldn't have found out.

I think it's a real shame that it had to end so quickly and honestly I don't think some of the DMing and other shit were a good reason to get rid of RS4 prematurely. It's just a game and it's a shame to see so many people still get so buttflustered about getting DMed. Just return fire or accept defeat. It's also got to do with the new mindset in Argonath that has literally been starting to require people to roleplay absolutely everything, something I personally think is a bit autistic, but to each his own.

The point is, I'm willing to bet hundreds of old players would've joined had the server stayed up for the weekend or a week. These players would've had a great time seeing the old server again, their old money and cars that were so abruptly taken away from them at the launch of RS5.

I sure as hell had a great time and only got DMed by a newbie once. Also, to those saying RS4 was a CnR or DM script, you should realize that really has nothing to do with scripts but with the people using them. RS4 had some of the best roleplayers and some of most tedious freecops, simultaneously. The beauty of Argonath back then was that it had something to offer for everyone and forced the most elite roleplayers to interact with the newest newbies, getting the newbies on their way, and reminding those elitists that everyone has to start somewhere.

So, thank you for RS4, and shame it couldn't have lasted longer. It'd be interesting to see what happens if you host both RS4 and RS5 simultaneously. One server for those who want all these new strict RP rules, and one for a more relaxed playing style like it always was in RS4.

I guess I missed that.  :neutral2:
Don't worry, you are better off not being there, it was .. eye opening, to say the least.

There were backups, but they were from months ago at the moment of the crash so they decided to launch RS5 instead
