Hola,

We're are happy to announce that alongside the release of RS5.2 we will also be releasing a new revamped administration system and structure. We want a system that puts the players first, including new players, and weeds out the troublesome players and hackers. In addition to a totally new /report system which is based on support tickets, we're also changing our structure by introducing two new administrative positions: helper, and senior administrator.

Helpers are not quite moderators and have no administrative ability (such as kick, or warn) but have the ability to teleport to new players and help them out. Helpers also stand out in /h and have the objective purely of helping progress the community.

Senior administrators are administrators who have proven themselves over an extended period of time. They are skilled, professional and on every scale demonstrate the excellence we hope to achieve. They are given a bit more responsibility to oversee the current team, handle unban requests, and of course deal with ban evaders.

We announced a little bit about the changes of a support system compared to a plain report system. But what does this mean for you? What exactly is different for the user when reporting another player? Absolutely nothing. You can still use /report as normal and you may notice the wording when an admin accepts the report is a bit different, and that there is a ticket number. You may also notice you'll get alerted when a staff member closes your report. We've also introduced the /support command. Did you get stuck in a building? Rather than typing /admins and using /pm, simply type "/support I am stuck in a building"... and an available administrator will claim your ticket and aid you. If you are still pesky and want to use /pm, the admin will simply open the ticket on your behalf. All administrative actions and support must be tied to a ticket.

We hope these changes only help reinforce the great things to come with RS5.2 and help focus on retention when it comes to new players. We of course always expect you, the players, to help make new players feel welcome but having dedicated people is always a plus.

Kindly,
Teddy

One of the main differences now compared to the past seems to be that the administrators seem to be less "fun."

It's not a bad thing for admins to use their privileges to help host events, or generally be a pleasant annoyance as they have done previously (pretending to be ghosts while spectating and suchlike). The odd fight club on a normally inaccessible skyscraper is normally a good shout.

People may scream out that this isn't "real RP", but that had always been one of the attractions of Argonath to me, being unique, and to me it just seems to have lost that edge.

EDIT: I'm speaking from the perspective of somebody who hasn't played actively since pre-2013, but this means I can clearly see the gradual changes that may have taken place since then that somebody fully active may not have quite noticed.

I must've missed where the administrator's job is all about being "fun". Obviously a bit of fun is fine but running around hosting unrealistic nonrp event's every other day is quite shit. I don't mind every now and then but the focus of the server and it's team should be promoting roleplay and not promoting the opposite. Those events serve no other purpose than to be counter productive to sustaining roleplay and only feeds into the money hungry mindset that has plagued the community for so long.

If you are here to roleplay, it's fine. If you are here for doing random event stuff, I'd recommend a free roam server. We're not that anymore. We're a roleplay server.

Sounds good so far. Just a bit confused. What about the New moderator wave that'll be announced after RS5.2. Will the helpers be accepted in it too? Or only new moderators?

Nice. I suppose having a ticket # will make it easier for higher-ups to check through logs if absolutely necessary, eh? Glad to see the initiative :)

In other words with RS5.2 Argonath changes it's status from light rp server to heavy?
