Chapter 5-3 : And ARUN...So Far Away

It had been a long time since anyone had seen Vaeldious. It was only natural, that his first public appearance back was at the ARUN Summit. V and Harold sat in back as the group leaders started assembling.

Just check 'em out, see how they do. The Prophet instructed Harold. Just find 5 of your Nomad brothers.
Recruitment's open then? Sure, of course. Harold responded.

The speakers lined up on stage, Vaeldious included.
On the topic of group interaction, he suggested that the Nomads be the diplomats between groups.
On police to criminal, he suggested something rather taboo; that the LawDogs control the arms trade (with /craftweapon) as criminals control the drug trade (crafting meth ingredients). His phone started vibrating continuously as people started voicing against the opinion.

The meeting ended, and the crowds began dispersing.
Where was Ramses? Vaeldious thought as he awaited out front for his ride.

Andrew and Roman Collin had stopped Ramses on his way back from Montgomery.
License and registration please? Andrew asked.
Ramses passed it over and waited for it to be checked. After a painstaking wait, Andrew walked back and asked, Mind if we have a look in the back?
Ramses laughed. Go ahead, if you got bolt cutters. I just get paid to move the cargo, not open it. There's a lock on the trailer doors to keep the cargo from being modified during transit.
Oh, ok. You're free to go then. The officer responded. Ramses had trouble stifling his laughter as he pulled away from the checkpoint with his overweight cargo.

His laughing faded, as he remembered his task at hand; to pick V up from Los Santos. And he was already late.

Chapter 5-4 : The Kings of Queens

Nothing seemed to have changed since the Summit. The same bickering and quarreling was still going on. It was sheer chaos in Bone Country.

The week was paying off nicely though. For the most part, the police presence was at a minimum, with the exception of the occasional wanna-be sheriff. Cooking was being done openly and brazenly.

Taking the meth off the scales, he packaged the 10kg neatly into a suitcase, and called up one of his old Gvardia contacts. After a brief conversation, they agreed on a price and an appointment was made. V packed up his Buffalo and headed to Queens. The Gvardia motioned for them to go inside. They discussed future shipments of similar sizes, as the money was wired to his account. Quick, clean, to the point, they shook hands and parted ways.

Why can't more deals go this smoothly? he wondered as he drove back to Fort Carson. He shrugged it off. Any million dollar day was a good day.

Work has started on an alternate-universe Nomads timeline, The Oneiric Chronicles. There will be support for both storylines, on both SA-MP servers. Workload will shift as needed between the two.

Chapter 5-5 : Return of the Duke

You alive? A voice called and snapped V out of his nap. He glanced over at the new blood in the buffalo next to him.
Yeah, all good. he responded as the engines idled in unison. It was going to be a long day. he thought to himself.

After completing the harvest, they headed towards the bar near the Lot. Duke and a few Runners greeted him as he approached.
Duke motioned everyone inside as they sat down to discuss business.
There's a new sheriff, and he's a ball buster. Goes by the name of Adams. V listened as he was updated on other changes in his absence.
Having trouble stifling yawns, V reported about the progress already started getting the Nomad Logistics office operational for business.  The local depot would be used for income until the LawDog was dealt with accordingly. The summit adjourned and alcoholic comas settled in on the bar patrons.

Nighttime had fallen, and disregarding the lay-low advice, the Wanderer went on to start cooking throughout the night. It was a choice that would forever change the course of his life, and the lives of Fort Carson.

While waiting for the materials to solidify, V started drifting off. The Journey filled with smoke as the batch started over cooking. The air, thick with clouds of smoke, choked him awake. Pain shot through his body and he screamed in pain, his eyes tearing up instantly as the smoke seared them. He stumbled for the door, and glanced back.

Supplies inside the camper reached their critical temperatures and ignited violently. V, thrown from the Journey, lay on the sidewalk for hours before coming to in agony.

V struggled to his feet, unable to see clearly. He felt his way to his Buffalo, and just as much felt the road to find his way home.

Tripping and stumbling into the Nomad Clubhouse, he collapsed to his knees from exhaustion. Before passing out again from pain, he muttered weakly to himself in disbelief...
. . . can't. . .fuckin'. . . see. . .

Chapter 5-6 : Upgrades

Jax of the Highway Runners happened to be in Fort Carson that day. Driving down Main Street, he saw V's prize Black Buffalo smashed into the front of the Nomads clubhouse. Rushing inside with his sidearm drawn, he flashed past the blaring metal detector and knelt down at the crumpled figure on the floor.

Shit, brother....the fuck happened to you? he asked as he gauged the wounds on V's face. His eyes were a mix of pus and blood crusting them shut, with obvious scorching around his eye sockets.

Slowly coming to, Vaeldious tried sitting up, propping himself against nearby furniture. Fell asleep and my supply of Red Phosphorus ignited in my face. he explained as he felt around for a bottle of Vodka.

There's a Doc, out in Bone Country, Rivera is his name. Crazy little mexican, but he's got the kind of black market goods I need, he instructed Jax. Vaeldious passed back out while he waited for them to return.

Untold hours passed before their return. Taking one look at the injuries, Jax and the Doc loaded V up into a Buffalo and headed towards the Doc's lab.

Loading the unconscious V on the table, the Doc quickly worked sketching out his work ahead. The sound of drills and saws, occasionally accompanied by suction hoses echoed through the underground hallways.

The Doc worked diligently and integrated the hardware to the biomesh material. Hours passed before the Doc was finally satisfied with his work.

Thick Spanish accent: Looks beuno, amigo. It'll be a few days before the organic wiring fully heals and starts sending signal, the Doc informed V as he regained consciousness. Only thing now is to rest.

After a few mechanical checks and adjustments, the Doc brought V back to the Lot. Call me if infection sets in, Doc said as he counted the $100,000ARD in the briefcase V had just handed him.

He heard the door close as the Doc left, and V laid down on the bed. The world, enveloped in darkness brought easy dreams as V drifted off, for a restful sleep for once.

Been working on the Warehouse Interior today, looks damn good. Used the 2nd layer of the crack house, and mirrored it to get windows on both sides. Already started on the passageways to the Bunker (Teal/Dark Blue - Ground/Sublevel) and Watchtower (Orange/Yellow - Ground/2F). Structurally, I think this interior is close to done at just over 50 objects.

If anyone checks it out, let me know what you think. Still a bunch of finishing touches and decor that's still needed for this one.

Finished bomb shelter/lower laboratory structures. Not seeing any graphical bugs or object joint anomalies, yay!  189 objects total, between HQ and interior.

Decorated warehouse main area, control/break room, storage area. Pretty much the whole entry area around the entrance. Only a few objects that don't have collisions, looking at ways of working around non-solid objects. Coming along nicely, at 224 objects alone for the interior (not counting the 50+ for HQ) and very well could be done today with the interior.
