Hello, Argonath.
Most of the older members know me, while I presume most of the younger ones only do from seeing my name / posts on the forum. But since it's been 1.5 years since I last appeared, I may as well (re)introduce myself.
I'm JDC, a player from the Philippines who was around from April 2008 to December 2014. I left Argonath because 1.) of the demands of real life, and 2.) I felt it was time to put a certain chapter of my life behind me. It was not an easy decision, since I literally grew up in this community (being a player from the end of grade school up until university.)
Since then, I've become a graphic designer and social media manager / analyst who's worked with corporations, startups, and political campaigns
(even helping an IRL Senator, Mayor, and a Social Democrat political party win in our national elections, which were held last May 9) so I'm coming back as -somewhat- a different person.
(I still love to write "walls of text" though, most of which now go into media articles or social media posts. But this one won't be too long.)
Since I disappeared, I don't know what's changed and what has stayed the same. I made a lot of friends and enemies in this community; friends who have become enemies, enemies who have become friends, admins who I've worked and drank with (virtually, in spirit at least), people I've helped (for the better or worse), and those who despised me enough to hold a grudging mutual respect or wish for something untoward to happen.
But true to my expectations, Argonath, a place I've seen endure hell and high water, is still around.
I don't know what's happened in the community since then, and to all the people I mentioned above. But given everything I went through, I'm looking forward to experiencing this community once more - from a different perspective. I'll have a lot of catching up (for the veterans - hah, we're old!) and introducing (for the younger ones) to do.
