We need a decent democratic system.
We need to change the one that was used last time. Allowing everyone to vote for every city is a step back in this process, not a step forward, and it makes no sense, not to mention it goes against everything that elections represents.

These are Mayor elections, not Governors or something. People are picking locally who's gonna run their local city, lets not turn it into a popularity contest.
We could use the house idea however the voter must of been living at that residence for 3 months minimum?
This is a good idea, it will completely cut off any possible manipulations with buying votes and such.

I think placing a limit based on a residents housing location and how long they have owned the property is a very poor idea.

That promotes the idea that the poor do not get any input.

Please, the poorest guy on Argonath can/could afford 20k for an apartment.

If you want the right to vote and decide, you gotta meet the required conditions for that right.

Fair enough, though I believe some people still don't. Length of time could certainly be reduced to a month or so. Depends when the first election is.

Ie. If the first election is two months, then three months minimum is reasonable, but certainly for the first election when people would be unaware of requirements, it would be good to leave it *relatively* open for people to vote.

The only condition for that right would be citizenship, as no one should be deprived of their right to vote based on economic factors.

@TheGreasyChopper in the last elections did a topic with title "Electio-tourism" which was refered to some "ideas" which are being given here, now, afterwards. If we will roll back to that topic we will se that was/is very productive for ideas and suggestions, but what makes the last post hilarious is the fact the same persons who boycotted his ideas are attempting to push for same kind of rules.

I believe this topic should be re-read by the people organizing the elections in order to avoid another shitstorm. As for the same people who boycotted the ideas well yeah, it's obvious that they're afraid to get a taste of their own medicine.

I will tell you this. At our next elections we will enforce the principle that a person must own a residence for at least 20 days prior to voting. In the United States, since we're advent on using this as a reference point, you must be a registered citizen of a city in order to register as a vote. This process once you move to a city can take a couple of weeks in some cases so... this will be our simulation of it.

Perhaps, but since there's no other way to connect people's citizenship to cities, that's the best we can do. Unless someone else has an idea how to do it?
And like I've said if you wont spend 20k for a house, then that's your choice, not really something that's limiting you much.

QFT, not every citizen in the USA has the right to vote, he has to registered as a voter way before the elections.
In some states you even have to register yourself as a Democratic or Republican voter, and once you do it, you can't vote for any other candidate except from the party you registered in.

The only condition for that right would be citizenship, as no one should be deprived of their right to vote based on economic factors.

Then they should choose a City to vote for. Even if you're rich as fuck and can have houses in all 3 cities, it would still equalizing for rich and poor if you can only vote for a single Mayor. (as people should do anyway)

Although...

Please, the poorest guy on Argonath can/could afford 20k for an apartment.

Given the jobs we have now, low-cost housing (i.e. state apartments) is still quite accessible. I can make 5K from tending oil pumps in half an hour, so Cofi has a point. But whether Citizenship should be the only basis or not is something definitely worth debating on.

The most important part is interacting with others and meeting people from around the world.

Why is a manifesto required?
