As the title suggests, I've been unable to connect for over days now getting the said error non-stop. I've tried many things and with no results. New install, nothing.

I use to get that error sometimes but after a few attempts it would eventually connect.
For a while now I haven't experienced it so I really have no idea what is the cause.

Having the same issue as well, this was also related to the time my entire VCMP client didn't work.
Disable your anti virus. Especially if your security is partly done by Microsoft.

Anti-virus should have nothing to do with it, and disabling your security software, (especially due to it supposedly being made by Microsoft), is a horrible idea. That leaves your system open to being damaged by malicious software, which can lead to even worse errors and problems.

Do you have nothing better to do than making a fool out of yourself?
Anti virus usually blocks the incoming web traffic and connection requests to the server, it can cause "the injected thread hung" due to it.
Malicious software, lmfao. I doubt a officially recognized VCMP server will harm other users who play on it.
Who knows it better? Someone who thinks he's a smart ass and hasn't played the game for years or someone who actually plays actively?

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. Anti-virus programs scan for and remove viruses. What you are describing is a firewall. Also, threads and injected code are related to the program's internal processing. That has nothing to do with web traffic.

I never said VC:MP would cause users to get malware. I said disabling your anti-virus software can open you up to getting it.

Yes, you sure do know it better than me, don't you?

I don't know what type of shitty anti virus you use but they actually do check the connections.
They can block connections due to it thinking it's unsafe. Pretty much how Chrome works now as well.
The only reason to disable your security software is to play a game, there's no way to get anything malicious from it.

Again, I did not say it would be coming from the game. I said it would be opening you up to being vulnerable to malware. That means from other places. Most players tend to do things other than just play games, even when they have them open. (For example, browsing the internet, downloading a file, or even another computer on their network which is infected spreading malicious data).

You fail to understand, I'm talking about the game specifically. If you do something else then just enable it back again.

I completely understand. Please see the part of my quote you missed:

1) You should never entirely disable your AV. They provide scanning as well on traffic you might not even know is open and against worms which do not require you to actively be browsing the web.

Instead: find out how your AV lets you add exceptions or "scan exclusions" and add both the main vice city executable and the vice city multiplayer executable. This way, any affect the AV had on those executables will no longer happen while still maintaining the protection.

2) AVs do scan all incoming data streams, at least anything modern/ A firewall filters traffic and if it was the cause it would persistent. They do not exclusively scan for malware and viruses, they scan for anything with malicious intent.

3) The error message is also very lacking in details so to assume web traffic or "internal processing" (whatever the fuck that means) is just aimless guess work with essentially zero supporting facts. I will say, if the AV is slowly (or blocking) scanning incoming traffic then it's possible that it could cause the thread to hang. However, if you are using a good AV like Avast, it'll tell you when it's flagged a traffic source. I know when I join certain modded Minecraft server's there is a threat blocked notification for some modstats website. It blocks the communication with that shady af site.
