GTA V Activation Key Problem

So, I used to play GTA V with my friend's account. The DVD version.

I just bought mine on Steam and copied the steam key and activated it on my account. (I did not install the steam version, I just used the key and ran the game like the DVD version)

And now it says the account is not activated and the key is in use.

Can anybody help me?

Try installing the game with Steam, it will configure itself I guess.

I went to the social club site to activate the game, when I click on play, it says you must run the game from steam, Is that good or bad?
