About 10 years ago I received a phone call. It was a friend I met a few months before for the first time.
And he had a question. He and his brother were playing a multiplayer game, and he had been having fun putting up a server from his home connection for some things.
But now it was changing. His brother was in constant arguments with the leaders and would probably get banned.
As he was tired of the constant shit, he wanted to start their own server.
And that is where I came in. Having some experience in the field (just a 20 years at the time) I told him that running it from a home connection would not work. I could look around and see if it was possible to find a data center that would be sufficient to run, he just needed to tell what would be running there.
I got the specifications and went to work. A few days later (July 11) there would be a meeting.....
