San Andreas won't start

Hey guys,

I have recently downloaded San Andreas from Steam. When I click 'Play' (single player), it starts for 1s then simply disappears.
In addition to that, I cannot download SAMP client since it requires me to browse for valid San Andreas installation.

I'd appreciate your help because I'm dying here in college without SAMP.

Not really sure why this happens or have an exact idea how to fix it, but you can try running the game as admin, or adding it to the DEP exceptions list, different combinations of the above and compatibility settings, allowing gta_sa.exe to only run on one core or even deleting the gta_sa.set file from the San Andreas User Files folder.

In addition to that, I cannot download SAMP client since it requires me to browse for valid San Andreas installation.

Iirc you probably need a v1.0 gta:sa .exe in order for samp to work with the Steam installation. Would post a link here but not sure if it's a good idea since it can also be used to get illegal copies working, but you can easily find it on Google. GL.

I highly doubt that would work..

The Steam and Direct2Drive versions of GTA:SA are not currently supported and cannot be downgraded.

So I advise you to.. you know.. get it elsewhere.

You're going to need far more than a v1.0 .exe to get it working with SA:MP. Use this downgrader. I believe it doesn't count towards piracy because it only really works if you have the Steam version installed.
