It seems that the game's release was postponed, because, the development team wants to give the returning and new Age of Empires players a proper experience. You can read more here.

No idea, I think it will be in 2019, but imagine having different timeframe like 1600-1945 or 400 BC - 400 AC... it'll be awesome.

Isnt Age of empire 3 with, its extentions better than this one :/ . Even better in graphics.
