New Forums + Theme

In all fairness-- I do like SMF and I have worked with it before, but in itself it's become outdated and doesn't even work with the latest version of PHP. The developers simply don't work on it anymore because the system in itself is obsolete. This isn't a major deal though, but when you get thousands of files on a single forum it begins to slow down, especially with forum software that is a decade old. Updating the theme of the website itself, won't really fix the problems but if you're dedicated to SMF then you can consider browsing some themes from Audentio and testing them out, they're a pretty nice company and they've always delivered quality themes for my forums, but I'm not even sure if they do /SMF/ themes anymore, because like I said just about everyone else besides SAMP communities it seems use XenForo or MyBB.

Personally, I prefer XenForo for it's optimization and utilities, but if you're looking for something lighter than you mine as well use MyBB. It wouldn't be hard to transfer all of the MySQL  tables and things over, and make XenForo or MyBB use them, as well as the forum posts themselves, if you know what you're doing. That's all I really have to say, I think we should change to something else to make the User's experience on the website a little easier and.. modern.

Then we should be changing it, if that's the case. Gandalf shouldn't be so against acceptance of a new and improved system, especially for his users.

It is not a matter of "acceptance of a new and improved system", it is a lack of acknowledgement of the problems that plague the current forums.

Of course not, this isn't news to me. I just wanted to have clarification as to what he was talking about. I just want to be sure that any information I'm reading doesn't mislead me into replying to a false-statement that was incorrectly perceived.

Nah he wasn't misleading, it's really just him being an asshole because he can. No wonder the playerbase of his, once, biggest server is now dead. I'd rather continue with my own life than waste time trying to convince some old man to change his mind, afterall it's his mini paki world. Forums won't get upgraded probably and security will be always an issue here.

This theme was actually introduced somewhere after 2010 (2012 or 2013 I believe) so it's not terribly outdated. Doesn't take away the fact that the forums look fucking disgraceful in terms of design & optimization though.
