Well, it's simple. This is the way I believe it should work:

I think VCPD/SWAT/FBI Officials should have a darker blue color such as
Code: [Select]
#00065D which looks like THIS.[/color][/b]

Second idea is:

There should be a way to go undercover, the roleplay way works, but if the VCPD/FBI Operative needs to get back on duty, they can type a command, such as /sb (stands for show badge) & type it again to hide the badge, but someone near you can see the /sb in local chat.

I don't know if these ideas are needed, but I believe they would increase the capabilities of roleplay!

No.

There will be no differentiation between ARPD and VCPD other than the available titles, ranks, skins, duties and other equipment.

You can go undercover, use an alternative account. Undercover with your main name while it still shows up in VCPD Official Staff topic is just useless.

As for /sb, no. That is useless.

The /sb idea, guess you're right, doesn't make sense to me either once I put it into perspective, but maybe you should be able to make your undercover accounts set to Officer rank so you can access the specialized equipment.

the available titles
Isn't that what the color is? It's basically a way to show yourself to be an official member. I think telling them apart is a good idea, but that's up to you.

There is no need to differentiate ARPD vs VCPD more than it already is. The fact that we have our ranks show on the police radio and other police related messages is good enough. Even SAMP does not do it any more, and they were the pioneers of making distinctions between SAPD and ARPD.

However, it would be nice to see /sb for FBI.. Now while I can see the reasoning for copban, /sb should be implemented for FBI agents. That way they could use surveillance equipment without having to worry that criminals will get scared by the blue dot on the map.

Surveillance equipment has unlimited range (with exception of CCTV which really isn't that useful anyway).

Once an FBI logs in, the criminals who are smart enough will avoid anything that the FBI can use, no matter if they're civilians or not (the agents).

Showing badge is just another /c undercover which was deemed overpowered as fuck especially when set in to the wrong hands. Imagine being a criminal, looking for cops who are intercepting while I come in as a civilian map dot and just delete you from the world of living with an M4. That sort of thing will never be implemented again.

The point in being undercover is that you are not a police officer. Having any rank would be useless as you are meant to be playing undercover with the criminals, likely as a criminal yourself.

Well, you forget that FBI are part of the official VC law enforcement and are bound by certain regulations, that could be put in place to prevent them from engaging in pursuits or in combat situations while their badge is not showing.

In IV, you change your name and then go undercover, but /sb can be used, so it does make sense after all.

I think here in VC, FBI (maybe VCPD too) can change their names and use /sb so that they can instantly suspect and takedown the suspects,

You're right! The FBI should /sb and then give 2 warnings for surrender, except if they evade in car/open fire then Agent can open fire, after /sb

P.S. please merge this with the above post

How are they supposed to bust drug dealers if they have no UC rank  :gand:

Arresting the drug dealers there and then after you gain any evidence for a raid for example would give the criminals a chance to change the location of their drugs before the raid can be executed. That would work against yourself. It's best to surprise them with a possible raid and a court case which will get them jailed anyway.

That would need to be bound by a server rule rather than an FBI rule much like Sea Sparrow is and I'm not really keen on looking at every FBI kill from the logs because players would report them for not doing /sb.

Name change rights will not be given back to the players as players couldn't behave themselves with it in the past. We originally released the script with players being able to /changename themselves, but since it was abused to no end we decided to make it back to an admin command like it was in previous script version.

I second what Kessu has already said. We won't bring back any ability for law enforcement to use duty weapons while not being visably on duty. This was already put in to practise before so our judgement on this is final.

If FBI or any cop for that matter wanted to go undercover they can do that simply by creating a new account + a VPN (Not necessary if you're from Pakistan or India). An undercover cop/agent would never need to instantly reveal their identity as Kessu said since their main aim is to gather intel and evidence for a court case and raid, not to be jailing or shooting at criminals.

About FBI's surveillance equipment they can actually attach bugs to other civilians "rats" or vehicles so no need to appear as a civilian themselves. As Kessu said the range is unlimited so Agents can just sit at the PD listening their bugs.

Name change should be limited to VCPD Officer and above, and any abuse or misuse should result in consequences.

Also, I stated that the Operative should use /sb and reveal themselves as LEOs before opening fire.

That is not actually making a sense, no one is idiot enough to say anything if the an FBI agent is near or with him, no matter he's civilian or UC, criminals will easily know. /sb is as much useless & is advantageous for FBI/VCPD, criminals going to be very weak then, thank about balancing the situation at both ends.

I agree with Kessu/Klaus that if you want to go UC, simply make another account & get the evidence for a raid, court case. Because FBI's sole work is just to get evidence enough for a raid/court case & disappear after that.

FBI can put bugs/wire on the criminal's vehicle or even the places.

Name changing idea would be abused very much because that's something which any player will try his best to abuse/get advantage from him no matter unfair or fair.
