Franco Leone was an Italian-American gangster who became boss of the powerful Leone crime family in Liberty City. Frank and his brothers Salvatore, Elio and Jack grew up in poverty and turned to a life of crime at an early age. Leone quickly rose to prominence, becoming one of the crime family's biggest earners and a protégé of Leone family operating all of Liberty City.
The FBI indicted members of Leone's crew for selling narcotics, and Leone took advantage of growing dissent over the leadership of the crime family.Leone feared that he would be killed along with his brothers and best friend by Barzini boss Paul for selling drugs, so he organized the murder of Paul Barzini in December 1985 and took over their territory after. This left Leone as the boss of the most powerful, richest, and largest crime syndicate in the world, one that made hundreds of millions of dollars a year from racketeering, hijacking, loan sharking, drug trafficking, bookmaking, prostitution, extortion, pornography, illegal gambling, and other criminal activities.
At his peak, Leone was the most powerfull boss in the city. But Paul Barzini's brother Jimmy find out that the murder of his murder was caused by The Leone Family, so he wanted to get his revenge by killing all Leone's. He set up a trap for Leone, his friends and other Leone's in a Restaurant, while they were talking suddenly a car pulls up and starts shooting thru the windows killing one of the Leone members named Jack, So.. Leone knew this wasn't going to end like this, they needed to get their revenge for their friendr. They armed theirselfs and go to Jimmy's house, they surrounded him killing of his guards, Jimmy started running but they caught him and hanged him up a tree and then set his house on fire, in 1986, the three friends left Liberty as fast as they can, which led them into Vice City. Starting a new crime empire in Vice City and leaving the past behind what was going down in Liberty City.After moving to Vice City, The Leone Family easily build their empire up, while there were others hating, Franco Leone was killed in Ocean View Hotel. Elio Sinagra became boss of Leone family, after Franco's death.
