Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. was born on 17 january,1972 in his hometown Louisville, Kentucky, U.S.
He begin his trining as a an ameteur boxer at the age of 12 and won his first gold medal at the age of 18.At the age of 22 in 1964 he won WBA,WBS and lineal heavyweight from Sonny Liston in a major upset.
Later on he announced his conversion to Islam and changed his "slave name" to MUHAMMAD ALI. He sat an example for racial pride for the African Americans during the resistance to white domination during Civil Rights Movement.
Ali was married 4 times and had 7 daughters and 2 sons. He was also taken in the vietnam war but later on refused the draft which resulted in his exile and severe punishment due to which his boxing liscence was cancelled and he could not fight from 1967-1970. He was know as humanitarian and philanthropist because he kept practising the Islamic good deeds and helpig people with their supressed lives.
In feburary 2013, Ali`s brother Rahman Ali announced that Ali could no longer speak and be dead within days but later his daughter May May Ali declared that he is fine.
Ali was hospitalized in Scottsdale on June 2, 2016, with a respiratory illness. Though his condition was initially described as "fair", it worsened, and he died the following day at the age of 74 septic shock. Following Ali`s death, it was trending on twitter for over 12 hours and for days on facebook.Ali's funeral had been preplanned by himself and others for several years prior to his actual death.
ALI`S BOXING STYLE:
Ali had a highly unorthodox boxing style for a heavyweight, epitomized by his catchphrase "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee". Never an overpowering puncher, Ali relied early in his career on his superior hand speed, superb reflexes and constant movement, dancing and circling opponents for most of the fight, holding his hands low and lashing out with a quick, cutting left jab that he threw from unpredictable angles. His footwork was so strong that it was extremely difficult for opponents to cut down the ring and corner Ali against the ropes. He was also able to quickly dodge punches with his head movement and footwork
