History

The Sylvestro crime family is an Italian-American Mafia Crime family based in the city of New Orleans. The Crime Family has a history of criminal activity dating back to the late nineteenth century. The family gained its place in the criminal underworld with Racketeering, extortion, gambling, pimping, narcotics, money laundering, loan sharking, fencing and murder under the Boss Sylvestro Carolla until his deportation to Italy in 1947. The family reached its height of influence under Carlos Marcello after he became Boss in 1947, one of the world's richest and most powerful crime bosses during the mid-twentieth century and at its height had over 300 made members and around 3,000 criminal associates. However, Carlos Marcello was imprisoned in 1983 and the family was led by his younger brother Joseph Marcello Jr. but a series of setbacks after the imprisonment the family reduced its clout, and law enforcement dismantled most of what remained shortly after Marcello's death in 1993. Joseph Marcello Jr. had to step down after failing to control the family, Anthony Carolla son of Sylvestro Carolla took the charge and led the family until his demise in 2007. Sylvestro Family expanded its empire till then and they now run on the streets of Liberty City.
