Maybe it would be better to give players a chance to disable all the messages that are not related to RP (Yet admin's messages should be preserved), making those messages invisible on their own chat log. That will provide you with a favorable circumstance where you can focus all your attention on a role-play with others without being bothered by the probably spamming public chat. Also, it will look much better when you are going to take some screenshots for a RP scenario since there won't be any non-RP messages appearing on the chat. Just add two commands for it, one for disabling public chat and another for enabling it, or something like that?

I have always liked to encourage communication throughout the server, as it helps bring the community together. If someone is spamming or disrupting the server, they'll be removed/muted. So, I'm not entirely in favor of this.

I don't personally like this.

The server's not meant to be someones personal bubble in which you operate only within your own group.

For what it's worth, you can make chat size and font size smaller, as well as show less lines, then edit the screenshots you take and add new custom chat lines instead of showing the ingame chat 

Main chat should always be visible to everyone as people might ask questions (even to you, over main chat). This is especially true in the case of administrative messages, since we really prefer not using /say to appear red text, but instead we just use main chat to handle most of the rulebreaks.

Censoring players, but not admins from main chat wouldn't do pretty much anything to help you achieve what you described in the opening post, as admins are quite loud in the server with our banter and bickering

Well, we could always implement a help chat, similar like in SAMP back in RS4.
Basically, /h is a chat meant for new players to ask questions and for older players to answer them.

Why would we do that when main chat will do just fine?

Imagine asking something in dedicated help chat and receiving no answer, despite seeing multiple people online.

Main chat is preferred means of communication when asking questions, as even veterans of the server sometimes don't know jackshit about certain rules or even how the server works.

Asking questions doesn't only help the player asking, but may enlighten some other players too, which is why we've never "separated" the people asking questions to a separate chat. It's just simply put unnecessary and in some extent, divides the playerbase by labeling "newbies" and "veterans" even further.
