The Araatus Yakuza | (_Araatus)

A Yakuza is a Japanese Criminal Group. Known for honour and respect, and by no means keeping to themselves, they are feared by many.

The Araatus Family
The Araatus Family was once a proud family of successful people. The brothers: Oli, Rayuku, Mau, Wu and Arca worked together, until Arca left the group to form the Matakara Society with his old friend Sayaku Kei. The mission of the brothers was to find the lost line of their family tree, to meet their 'lost cousins'. They had only found two, Axel and Sonia, when a series of bad events led to the demise of the Araatus Family.

Current whereabouts of the original family members are sketchy. Oli and Rayuku dissapeared into the shadows once the families' business had collapsed, whilst Mau reportedly retired to a quieter life in the countryside. Wu was killed, when he got on the wrong side of a street gang. Very little information can be retrieved about Sonia, however Axel continued on the same path, and is now a member of the Yakuza that used his families' namesake.

Arca was convicted for the attempted murder of Officer Tonia Navarra, and served a several year sentence in Prison -  it is assumed that his Matakara business partner, Sayaku Kei, was in hiding waiting for his partners return to freedom. It was also rumored, very interestingly, that Arca and Sayaku each own a 25% share in the successful Rage Inc. - however this claim cannot be verified until Arca comes forward with some form of Legal proceedings. Rumours also run that Oli reached an agreement with the company. At his Parole hearing on the Easter Weekend 2008 , Arca Araatus could not afford bail, and so with the assistance of Mau, Axel and Sayaku escaped from the Court room with force. He fled to San Fierro, where the pursuing SAPD lost sight of him. He is believed to have been headed for Chinatown, and has not been seen since.

The grand legacy that this family has left behind is a great one, and the reputation they earnt was very much there for the taking. Axel wished to continue the actions that his cousins had been so notorious for, and so when he heard of a proposition from two ex-Mafia Members, he took up the opportunity with great excitement..


The Beginning
After a long period in the Russian-led Mafia, the Solonik Brotherhood, Panda and Maxy decided to begin a new life. After conducting much research into the criminal underworld, and the activities of various groups, they decided to adopt the namesake of the Araatus Family, and continue their reputation. However, they would run this as a Japanese Yakuza - these supposedly criminal families often run many legal businesses. They thought that they could make a new start for themselves - begin something that might be amazing, and respected among everyone.
They created The Araatus Yakuza.


The Hawk Incident
After the Araatus Yakuza had been operating in Los Santos for some time, they were approached by the Araatus Family, whom had been in hiding. They discussed privately about a security firm known as Rage Inc., who it turned out had legally wriggled their way out of Arca and Sayaku's share contracts. The leaders of the Araatus Yakuza agreed to do all they could, so it seemed appropriate when the CEO of this firm, Frank Hawk, begun criminal operations of his own, using 'hired goons' to do his dirty work. After the henious insult of kidnapping an Araatus Kumichō, it was decided that he should be dealt with once and for all. He was heavily wounded by the Araatus Yakuza and then dropped off a cliff over the ocean somewhat ceremoniously in a car from a towtruck. However, Hawk survived and made it to shore where he was admitted to hospital, and recovered quickly. After continuous failed attempts to exact his own revenge on the Yakuza, he began to lose his sanity, and turned to heroin. Moving from the 'hired goons' of his past to simple tramps and hobos, he fell victim to the drugs addictive grasp, and so, in retrospect, was passively destroyed by Araatus, who drove him to this level.


The San Fierro Movement
At the time of the great San Fierro Movement, business was flying well for Araatus. They owned many successful legal businesses such as the Araatus Bistro and an Ammunation in Las Venturas. However, many members of the group were unsatisfied with the condition of Los Santos, and the underlying conflict with the Eastern Street Gangs. The leaders also shared this concern, and along with many citizens of Los Santos, they staged a massive move to San Fierro, speedily purchasing large properties, such as the Araatus Mansion in Southern Ocean Flats. Setting up similar businesses in San Fierro, the Araatus Yakuza again speedily rose to the top. However, their great success was stirring both their allied and rival Mafias. The Stracci Family, infamous for being Araatus' biggest enemy, was brought closer through their collaboration over the Hawk Incident, however their allies the Solonik Brotherhood and the Corleone Mafia were not brought particularly closer in any way. Hawk in fact tried to extract Araatus from its alliances, by hiring Solonik Protection and conducting business deals with Corleone. The Araatus Yakuza, being as prepared as they usually are, have set plans for potential alliance bursts, and their relationship with Corleone in particular is seen to be potentially brittle. The time has come for absolute peace and alliance in the criminal underworld, or for great rivalry. For now, only time will tell.


The Corleone Deception
In late June, the Corleone Mafia set up an Arms Deal in Ocean Docks, Los Santos, with the Araatus Yakuza. The products were demonstrated to the Mafia representatives, whilst the Yakuza members looked on from their escort vehicles. However, shortly upon arrival in the docks, the Corleone Mafia and the Yakuza were interrupted by two full helicopters of SWAT team members swiftly landing on a nearby rooftop. The Araatus Yakuza suspected the Corleone Mafia of setting them up, and Corleone the same back to Araatus. They swore revenge upon one another, however only Araatus escaped without losing a member, and also with their entire stock of products. Corleone did not fare as well. The products were safely stashed in a secret San Fierro based location, but the Yakuza is still smarting from this henious insult. Revenge will be had, and if this deception and the subsequent shattering of many alliances will lead to the demise of any organised criminal groups, then Araatus will see to it that they will take Corleone with them, and that Araatus will standing at the end.


The Return to Los Santos and Magni
After some time conducting business in San Fierro, the original individuals involved in the San Fierro Movement mostly returned to Los Santos. Eventually, after much deliberation, the Araatus Yakuza followed. When they returned to the city of Los Santos, they found that most of the properties were owned by the Corleone Mafia and other groups. Buying back what they could, including their old LSHQ in Verdant Bluffs, the Araatus Yakuza tried to reestablish their presence in Los Santos. Due to the afformentioned fallout with Corleone, they finally allied fully with the Stracci Family. Despite remaining atop the ARPD most wanted gangs list for some time, their activities decreased. After a great deal of time had passed, they allied with the Vegas Brotherhood and together with Stracci they formed the Magni Pact. This was mostly formed to oppose the Corleone Mafia's stranglehold on business in Los Santos and the surrounding areas. In Norse mythology, Magni was the son of Thor, which seemed fitting as this alliance was almost the opposite of the Thor Pact, which included Corleone. This action added tension to the ongoing war between Corleone and Araatus, as Stracci and Vegas now became heavily involved. Whilst Corleone control most of Los Santos in terms of property, and also boast a considerably higher member count than all members of Magni combined, the resolve of the Araatus Yakuza and its allies to keep on fighting and never give in, may just be an asset that Corleone simply cannot match.


A Threat in San Fierro
After a long period of quiet deliberation and apparent inactivity, Araatus reemerged to find the Vegas Brotherhood no longer in power, and the originally powerful Magni Pact dwindling in terms of its organisation. Questions were being raised as to where the Pact had brought the criminal underworld, but it is generally agreed that Magni succeeded in creating a power large enough to compete with the immense business power that the Corleone Mafia possessed. Whilst Corleone itself seemed to be the only group still standing after Magni played it's hand, this was actually a false assumption to make. In the recently unvisited streets of San Fierro, a new power emerged and very quickly begun to employ it's policies of absolute control. Immediately turning against other San Fierro groups such as the Leone Mafia, the Luvineri Mafia, and the Tanaka Yakuza, the Gvardia Mob isolated themselves from everybody around them, and also from those further afield in Los Santos. When a random Gvardia ambush on a cargo ship left Kumichō Panda Araatus injured, the Yakuza declared war on the Gvardia Mob. They called a Magni meeting to discuss the issue, however inside the meeting, stood a very unwanted enemy indeed. Corleone consigliere Violet had managed to collect information for several minutes before Cems Gang members ScorpZ and Xterm, along with Panda, managed to blow the spies' cover. Violet acted quickly, calling a meeting with Gvardia in the hopes of creating an alliance between them and the Corleone Mafia, by giving away the plan Magni had concocted to Gvardia. Despite Violet's warnings, the Gvardia Mob made no specific attempt to use the plan against Magni. Panda Araatus quickly called off the plan, then called Operation Bronze, and as of yet no new plan has been fully thought up. With the Corleone Mafia regaining momentum, and the Gvardia Mob surrounding Araatus controlled Chinatown, what is next for the Yakuza? Whilst many ask this question, the leaders of Araatus discuss with their Magni Pact groups on what best to do. Needless to say, a plan is already being drawn up, one that could tilt the scales considerably. Acting now in total secrecy, and using their spies within Gvardia and the Corleone Mafia to feed them important information, the Araatus Yakuza is preparing to retake the city of San Fierro, before moving swiftly on to their main point of interest; their home city of Los Santos.


The Arcana Alliance
A long time after Magni succeeded in it's goal to overthrow the might of the Corleone Mafia, the members of the Magni Pact noticed Corleone making a swift return to power. Don Stracci had been showing increasing insult and disrespect to Kumichō Panda of the Araatus Yakuza, and relations were tense. On one day, the Araatus Yakuza opened fire across a road in Downtown Los Santos, shooting between Violet Corleone's Business Headquarters and Magni Tower, controlled by the Stracci Family. However, the yakuza was fighting alongside the members of the Corleone Mafia, rather than against them.
Later that evening, Kumichō Panda met with Corleone Commission member Violet Corleone and Don Michael Montana at a secret location in Las Venturas. There, they officially signed the treaty that would form the Arcana Alliance.
Sadly, the Arcana Alliance was to be short lived, as the Araatus Yakuza speedily returned again to the shadows, leaving Corleone and Montana mostly alone to enforce the treaty's will. Whilst the Stracci Family effectively began killing itself when Don Stracci revealed his remarkably mindless policies and rolled them out with haste across the group - the Arcana Alliance had nothing to do with the relative fall of the Stracci Family in Los Santos.


A Phoenix from the Embers
Many, many months passed after the events of battle for Magni Tower. With the Araatus Yakuza in the shadows again, and the Montana Family fading away, the old enemies Corleone and Stracci remained. Whilst the actual events themselves remain untold, both sides withdrew their influence greatly from the area. This paved the way for the Gvardia Mob's aggressive move into Los Santos. Still operating from their San Fierro Stronghold in Queens, they began an expansion eastward into the city of Los Santos.
However, like a match in the dark, the Araatus Yakuza reemerged again. Rolling out recruitment programs and reorganising with incredible haste and efficiency, they quickly took control of Downtown Los Santos again. However, the Gvardia Mob was not to be easily plunged from their lofty position of power, and fought back with bitter and unrelenting force. Whilst the Araatus Yakuza tried to launch attacks on San Fierro, their influence was not yet redeveloped enough to stage anything of significance. The loss of their Chinatown Headquarters in an unrelated matter had lost them their only foothold in the area. The move westward into East San Fierro was not backed with enough monetary support and proved to be mostly pointless in the overall effort.
Gvardia, however, continued their advance into Los Santos, using dishonourable tactics to pick off small groups of Araatus' men. Not wishing to enter into direct combat due to knowledge of the Araatus Yakuza's prowess, they employed regular guerilla tactics to try and weaken the Yakuza.
However, one fatal error was made by underboss Eugene Gvardia. Whilst pursuing Kumichō Panda in Idlewood, Los Santos, he entered the area of the newly formed Inferno 9 group. Born from the remnants of Rage Incorporated, Frank Hawk stood at Gas Station 9 with many others. In the firefight between Kumicho Panda and the several Gvardia men Eugene had been forced to bring, several of Hawk's associates fell. Panda himself was injured, but was able to arrange an operation with Frank Hawk for revenge. Taking trusted Shateigashira Alsa Araatus in his Buffalo, he led a convoy of several vehicles to the Gvardia Headquarters in Queens. Whilst Frank Hawk attempted to negotiate, Petar Gvardia opened fire - hence starting a battle Gvardia had no chance of winning. Underboss Hell Gvardia was quickly executed, although it is suspected he may have been picked up by a private ambulance soon after, and hence in fact be alive. Comfortable with their victory, Panda left with Alsa and returned to Los Santos.
However, the Gvardia Mob did not cease it's relentless advance into enemy territories, and the Araatus Yakuza was unable to regain a strong foothold there. Despite delivering a killing blow to the heart of the Gvardia Mob in San Fierro, Araatus was not satisfied as the attacks continued. Just the next day, Boss Cofiliano Gvardia led several Koltsovi Mafia men to attack Shateigashira Josh Araatus and Wakagashira ElMartu Araatus in Los Santos. Despite being just two against the six that stood with Cofiliano, the Gvardias were mostly defeated. Cofi himself was wounded and forced to leave the area, shortly before the Koltsovi men also fled.
Wishing to maintain healthy growth in their local businesses, and to regain a foothold, the Araatus Yakuza called up use of one of the most honoured traditions in the Argonathian criminal underworld. This tradition forced a ceasefire from both sides, with only a few exceptions.
Shifting their assets into internal affairs and Los Santos business advancement, Araatus severely cut their investment in heavy weapons and armour, previously used to fight the Gvardia Mob.
Like a phoenix from mere embers, the Araatus Yakuza would now be able to flourish in rebirth.
Project Ember was born.

Maxy co leader ? amazing i thought you would have 2 leaders ..But its better this way Japanese are STRICTLY lead in a hyarchie, where russian Mafia is looser then Italian Japanese is MUCH stricter , Honour and duty are the most important for Japanese crime families , who dont feel criminals because they go back to samurai traditions and feel its their heritage

Oh sorry I found this piece about the leader is pretty accurate (he is called Oyabun 'father')

The yakuza system is similar but more intricate then italian Mafia The guiding principle of the yakuza structure is the oyabun-kobun relationship.  Oyabun literally means "father role"; kobun means "child role."  When a man is accepted into the yakuza, he must accept this relationship.  He must promise unquestioning loyalty and obedience to his boss.  The oyabun, like any good father, is obliged to provide protection and good counsel to his children.  However, as the old Japanese saying states, "If your boss says the passing crow is white, then you must agree."  As the yakuza put it, a kobun must be willing to be a teppodama (bullet) for his oyabun.
