Mafs, yes you can drive any car you want, but, if you make the choice of driving a car, knowing that the owner is online, then you choose to take a risk. You took that risk and it went to your disadvantage. No one forced you to drive a car with owner online and unlucky for you, he was a police keeping an eye out for his car and had reported to some fellow officers of the car theft of his car. If not my patrol got you, maybe other one would. Yes, sometimes owner may only ask for it back and no trouble, but other times he/she will call police and yes I have gotten reports from civilians of stolen cars and some even request of pressing charges, not only happen for myself. The best thing is for when you get in a car, just check if owner is online, if he/she is, you can still drive it, just you be aware, if he/she isn't, happy driving, no one can give you trouble for that if owner is not online or not owned car, there are many cars in server.

If you don't want your car stolen, lock it.
The car ownership is not Roleplay.. you rarely drive your own car on GTA, and when a cop pulls you over as far as they know in RP.. its your car.

You cannot carjack your own car back, you cannot do anything to steal it.
Also, if I catch anyone getting in the passenger seat using the passenger bug and then locking their car so that the real driver is bailed out (I have seen this many times).. then I will treat it as carjacking, and as such you will have to drive another vehicle.
