Hi everyone! I play Half Life (I shoulnd't :D ) and I have some questions... Yes, some questions are NOOBASS ones, but sooorry... I just started playing <_<

1. Who is the G-MAN exactly?

2. Does Half Life have a PEGI of "Fear"?

3. In Half Life 2, at the chapter "Route Kannal" (or something), there are some Barnacles hidden (i see the tongues of the eaters), can I go to their tongues and shoot they're ass mouth off even if they are taking me? Also is it possible to kill them with Crawbar?

4. Is it worth getting Episode One and Two?

5. This is a stupid question, but WTH Gordon doesn't talk?

6. Who are the Combine exactly? And why is the Metro Police after me at HL2?

7. Uhm... what are the Resistance?

8. Why are the combines after me  :(

Give funny answers if you want, these days I really need to get a laugh ;)
But some please no... like #3 or #6 or #8...

TY!

8. Why are the combines after me  :(

1) G-Man.. nobody really knows.

2) Not sure.

3) Barnacles are scary little bastards, yes you can look up and shoot them when they are taking you, and yep the crowbar works (but you lose some health).

4) I've played Episode One, I'd say it was worth it.

5) Well, its just the Dev's decision. Link never talks in Zelda, and Master Chief doesn't say much in Halo. Makes it seem more "you".

6) After the accident at Black Mesa (HL1), the energy generated by the portal to Xen (the original alien world) drew an alien race, the Combine, to Earth. There, they enslaved the entire planet, and turned many people into "hybrid" guys, who are humans but really messed up.

At the start of the game, Barney mentions that you were about to go to "Nova Prospekt". This is where the people get turned into alien soldiers. Metro Police, and Combine Troops, are actually human/combine hybrids. The Metro Police are just the police force of hybrids, and they aren't actually "after" you until you escape. When you get stopped at the train station, thats actually a setup by Barney to save you from Nova Prospekt.

7) The resistance are the group of humans who are fighting against the Combine Oppressors.

8) The combine are after you because you are Gordon Freeman, and are therefore very important (as you are the one who opened the portal to Xen in HL1. People know who you are, and you are a symbol of resistance - hence the Combine want you.

combine
Quote
The Combine is an empire spanning multiple parallel universes. The empire is inhabited by an unknown number of sapient species, and appears to be governed by a race of artificially evolved "Advisors", resembling giant grubs. The Combine expands its empire by invading worlds and enslaving the dominant species to be exploited as it sees fit. By manipulating these inhabitants through methods including bioengineering and implantation, the Combine creates a race of super-soldiers uniquely adapted for the environment of that particular world.

Until recently, many players speculated that the Combine may have possibly controlled the fictional "border world", Xen, based on the similarities to some practices and technologies used by its Nihilanth dwellers. However, Valve Software's Doug Lombardi has stated that the Combine had, in fact, invaded the Nihilanth's race's homeworld, leaving no option but escape. The defeated Nihilanth, along with the other Xen creatures, sought refuge in Xen, where the Combine could not (or would not) follow.[1] Xen has been described as a "dimensional transit bottleneck, an area of continual contention."[2]

Subsequent to the invasion of Nihilanth's unnamed homeworld, Earth is the Combine's most recent known annexation, acquired following Earth's surrender at the end of the Seven Hour War. Following the standard Combine process, members of Earth's dominant species have been modified to form a new arm of the Combine military. While these soldiers are primarily used as a permanent Combine garrison on Earth, in-game dialogue suggests that humans are used as soldiers and slaves across the Combine Empire. In-game Overwatch broadcasts frequently threaten civilians and Combine soldiers alike with "permanent off-world relocation.

g-man
Quote
Appearance and behavior

The G-Man appears to be a middle-aged male human with a tall and thin physique, very pale skin, dark brown hair shaped in a military-style crew cut with a prominent widow's peak, and blue-green eyes. He is dressed in an inexpensive-looking gray/blue suit. The book Half-Life 2: Raising the Bar states that his appearance in Half-Life 2 is based on the famous Alexander Technique practitioner Frank Sheldon. G-man speaks in a slow, raspy yet commanding manner, with a certain accentuated low-key moroseness to his tone, sometimes placing unusual stress on syllables, stressing the wrong parts of words, making unneeded pauses, and awkwardly changing the pitch of his voice, sometimes in the middle of a word. It is common for the G-Man to elongate "S" sounds ("Limitless potential"). His odd manner of speaking, bordering on the cryptic, along with his appearance, alludes to the behavior of the Men in Black in various reports, and the apparent age and physical status of the G-Man doesn't seem to have changed in the time (assumed to be between 15-25 years) that passed between Half-Life and Half-Life 2.

The G-Man exudes a calm, almost uninterested demeanor – in situations in which other humans panic and flee, the G-Man can be seen calmly straightening his tie or brushing his suit lapels with his hand. When working on the G-Man in Half-Life 2, animator Doug Wood stated, "I wanted the player to never quite know what side the G-Man was on. I would have him express an apologetic look toward Freeman as he 'regretted' to put Mr. Freeman in this situation, but then give a slight smirk or smile at the end to keep you guessing about his sincerity."[1] Before animating the G-Man's facial expressions, Wood spent weeks in front of a mirror practicing the expressions on himself first.[1]

[edit]
Identity

Until Half-Life 2: Episode Two the G-Man is almost never identified by other characters in any of the games to the player, despite being seen interacting with them. "G-man" is simply the name of the character's model in the original Half-Life, and Half-Life 2 (possibly a reference to the slang term G-Man, referring to an agent of the United States Government), as well as in documentaries featuring employees at Valve Software. The character is also referred to as "Gman" in the voice actor list in the credits of Half-Life 2. Furthermore, in the manual for Opposing Force, Adrian Shephard makes mention of him as a "G-man." In Half-Life 2: Raising the Bar, it is noted that "while the codename 'G-Man' slipped into common use, it remains merely a codename". Prior to the release of Half-Life 2, many players speculated that he was the Administrator of Black Mesa due to a scientist's holo-log in Opposing Force, mentioning the Administrator had called him away and the same scientist was seen earlier with G-Man, but the sequel makes it clear that the Administrator is actually a separate character, Doctor Wallace Breen.

resistance:
Quote
The Resistance is a faction of humans and Vortigaunts in Half-Life 2 and its episodic continuations that fight the Combine in the Battle of City 17 . They took the lowercase lambda as their symbol, as Doctor Gordon Freeman, considered by the Resistance to be "the One Free Man, the Opener of the Way", had this mark on his Hazardous Environment Suit. Its City 17 branch is apparently lead by Doctors Eli Vance and Isaac Kleiner, with Eli's daughter Alyx Vance and Barney Calhoun, working undercover within the Civil Protection unit, as some of its main operators; Doctor Judith Mossman, who assisted Dr. Vance on his experiments at Black Mesa East, was working for the Combine, gathering details about the innovative teleportation technology, which used Xen as a relay point, in exchange for her and Eli's safety.

The Resistance controlled most of the coastline outskirts of City 17, as seen by cabins scattered throughout it, although by the time Freeman gets there, the Resistance has been almost completely overwhelmed; the player directly intervenes in the attacks on two of its central points in the coast, New Little Odessa, led by Colonel Odessa Cubbage, and the Lighthouse Point. Also, a city in which citizens and Resistance members took shelter, Ravenholm, has been infested by headcrabs, nearly the entire population transformed into zombies, after a heavy Combine shelling, which implies that the Combine were making serious moves to eliminate their opposition.

Also there are some speculations that G-man is Gordon Freeman from future(G(ordon) Freeman), but those are nothing more than speculations... Valve did promice they will reveal whole storie when the saga is over... we can only wait for answers

If you want to wait in the "mouth" of the barnacle when then attack (crowbar does take them damage), you can kill them but you will lose health when they "bite you" and most likely when they die, you will fall from a high place and lose even more health. If you are caught, the idea is to kill it as quick as possible. ;)

Oh, and a tip to take out lots at once while saving ammo. If you have a cluster of them, throw an explosive at the tongue, it will be pulled up (thinks its food) and if it is already not on some kind of timer to explode (such as a red barrel), shoot at it when its near the top, it will explode and take out the surrounding barnacles. Don't wait to long though because it spits out the explosive after a while because it can't eat it.

1) No-one has no real idea who the mysterious "G-Man" is, Well, Gman in terminology means Government-Man  so, He might be assosiated with a type of government, but other then that, hes a mystery

2) Not Sure

3) Put some Xplosive barrels on the tongue, wait till it gets close, and shoot at it = easy kill :)

4) Its worth its weight in gold. If you wanna continue the story, i suggest buy them :)

5) Unsure, Maybe hes become mute

6) Read cDa's post - correct :D

7) Resistance are a group of Humans and Other Creatures that are trying to rebel against the combine rule.
The Lambda is their Symbol

8) You are a threat to the reign of them, You Dont Like Them + They dont like you = xplosionz

Why wouldnt they release it?
I mean.. If you look at ep 2 end.. its not really an end.. Just another beginning

"Half-Life 2: Episode Three will be the third and final installment in a series of episodic expansions of Half-Life 2, developed by Valve Corporation. It is planned as the last episode in the currently planned story arc, although not necessarily the end of the Half-Life franchise. According to Valve, plot details have not been finalized as of February 2008, and the game is also not expected to be released for some time."

I know it isn't an ending...

I hope there are alternate endings at Ep 3, like...

Resistance lost. Combines win.
World have been destroyed. The human and aliens races doesn't exist anymore. Tie.
Combines lost. Resistance need to defeat aliens.
Combines lost. Aliens gone into Xen. Metro Police and other humans are normal now. Resistance win :pop:
