Organized Crime
Unofficial Guidebook 08-09

I have created this guidebook with hopes of inspiring organized crime role-players into thinking outside of the box, just because the Police have a code for a crime doesn't mean your limited to that, as long as it's within server rules ofcourse, below I offer you ideas that I often thought about how I would undertake and go about if I had taken up lead of an organized crime group, if your worried about me going criminal; don't be! This is just for the sake of role-play, take from this book, edit from it, add onto it, remove from it or question it!

The Basics of Business
The Law of the land is something when you fight you end up dead if unprepared, manipulating and bypassing laws is another matter how ever, cover stories for your organization's businesses and meetings, movements and so on should be first on the list before setting up an new branch to your organization or gang, having certain ranks for different branches is a good idea too, people are expendable in your line of business and you don't have time to run everything, why put your organization at risk when an couple hired guns could do the job just fine? Then again... can they be trusted? Interesting roleplay can develop from this and alliances between organizations supporting each other or fighting each other competively will be formed and created.

So, lets say we wanted to set up an drug dealing operation, lets think about what needs to be done OOC, but what could be done to make your mafia or gang the top drug selling branch?

  • The Cover Story - ''Officer, this is for the Dillamore Pharmacy, Co', here - phone this number and find out for yourself!''
Covering your crime up is the key to not being found, you can use the law to protect yourselves rather then blatently break them and have your operation go up in smoke on day one, Officers can't search your vehicle unless they smell or have hard evidence to search your vehicle, ofcourse that goes out the window if your a suspect. Know the laws that you are breaking to manipulate them!

  • The Pick up - ''San Fierro Docks, an polish ship carrying farm equipment has an unofficial load unboard, meet them at this time and make sure your not followed...''
Your drugs can be created by your own or purchased by a dedicated seller that is worth the extra cash so that the drugs trade can't be tracted back to your mafia, take the risk if you think you can manage it, or your employes.

  • Customers - ''Your gang will get a discount next time you buy from us.''
Keep the customer coming back, a loyal customer is a more trustworthy customer; set up deals with other mafias and offer discount prices for large bundles, organized crime doesn't mean lots of people with bats, it means lots of people with bats and someone with a brain controlling them!

  • The drop off - ''Your late and the deal is off, meet me here at this time, exactly...''
Organize a secure meeting place, set up security and disallow any interested individuals (Could be undercover cops) around the scene, claim to be dock security or something, the higher IQ will win.

Okay, you get the idea, plan out each stage and you will gain respect, members and maybe even be able to claim the city as your own, crime wise. Onto the organized crime ideas!

The Protection Business

Triads, famously known for the protection business, collecting a fee from shop keepers and business owners and in return offering them protection from other preying gangs attempting to rob or steal from the area, should they refuse - make them pay for new windows and furniture, or a new car instead! In the extreme a new hip! No-one has employed this business yet and using the ideas as your own and taking multiple business incomes as your own could benefit another operation, or just get that new car you wanted, obviously pay your workers to keep them loyal.

They still laugh in your face? Make sure they never get another customer! Ensure that people that eat there get some kind of poisoning from the meat, or become uncomftable with the bat wielding crowd in the corner looking at them. There is always a way!

Deal at this location and...

Option 01: Get security from my gang, just provide an cut of the income!
Option 02: Get shot! This is my gang's turf...

Make money off pimps, prostitutes and so on and you could have a rather large network income, just think about whats best for your gang.

Used cars

See some hot car cruising down the streets? Lure them to a car-show and threaten them with their own life, take the car and sell it for discount prices, a very cost effective business! Works for both mafias and gangs.

Parking lot

Option 01: Park here for '$$' and your car will be safe.
Option 02: If you want your car in one peice when your back, pay '$$$'!!

Again, think - what would attract the cops?

Kidnappings - We always fail!

One hostage? Yeah, 50/50 chance there. 2 hostages? 70/100 chance of gaining the cash. More the hostages, bigger the chance - when they don't deliver on time, execute one! Simple and effective, also bring a lot of people, that way you don't need to splash out on AK47s, pistols and uzis, knives for hostage execution - all do the trick. Pick your area well too and employ outside security, large complexes or docks do well, though houses can be good too.

This'll be updated when I think of new ideas and old ideas that i've just forgotton, feel free to implment these in your own gang or mafia and good luck, because if I catch wind your committing crimes in my town, i'll be responding code 03! (:P) Add on ideas below, or comments that you wish to add in.

Don't just give up cause one fails. if you ask for small money you have a higher chance of getting it  ;) (E.x. you ask for 10k each person w/ 5 people your not getting that 50k..)

Firstly, let me say - great guide you got here. Though it could use some tuning, you have many good points.

However, I smell another one of my favourite "Argonath-Conversions". This is coming from one of the most experienced organised criminals on the server, remember. I'm pretty sure that I know how things work, and I know the consequences of most actions.

I once saw something like this, the guy got kicked for illegal ad. Reason given - "Ads that are illegal are illegal, it does not matter if they are disguised."
Which is, by the way, not the rule. He was talking bullcrap.

Oh, by the way - your car can be searched whenever any cop wants, and often they find drugs which aren't even there! These new age cops are just too good, eh? X_X

Its basically impossible to actually be caught, without tipping off the SWAT yourselves. Now and again the cops get lucky, but not often.
I will present a quick example of cops not caring about RP things (in this situation only, not all cops clearly are this stupid).
Well, we didn't want to tip off the cops - but I had a stash of stolen diamonds which I had roleplayed having when pulled over the previous day. I actually escaped unsuspected, because the cop saw fit to chase without suspect (which, by the way, is <3) as he didn't know my identity in the Roleplay (I dumped my car afterwards).
Anyway, we went through Los Santos with THREE GANG COLOURED CARS (And I'm talking, obviously in a gang - modded and custom coloured). Two Premiers, One Limo. We drove past the LSPD 4 times. Not one cop even looked at us or cared that we were obviously being suspicious.

Sad, really.

Only roleplay drugs are worth buying, since the drug scripts are useless and pretty much nobody uses them after the drugs-trade crash a few months back. Now and again a deal goes down, but most organised Mafias sold off as much as they possibly could, for minimal prices (<$5 for weed).

  • The drop off - ''Your late and the deal is off, meet me here at this time, exactly...''
Organize a secure meeting place, set up security and disallow any interested individuals (Could be undercover cops) around the scene, claim to be dock security or something, the higher IQ will win.

Again, nobody will actually take an interest unless priorly set up OOC. Undercover cops are mostly rubbish, we have lifted over 3 FBI spies, before they even put them into our gangs, at which point we fed them completely false information for a few days then killed them. The odd time, something will happen. But look! A Minimap! So its ok, everyone can see everyone else. Welcome to gaming..

Okay, you get the idea, plan out each stage and you will gain respect, members and maybe even be able to claim the city as your own, crime wise.

I have to say, I wouldn't disagree. However, if you make it even slightly official that you're "taking control" of the cities' underworld, then you get banned for gang wars.. or something else they make up to kill off the gang. Whatever.

Not viable, only about 1/200 people will actually roleplay protection rackets, and the rest don't give a toss about dying or anything else.
Criminals beware.. if you threaten to kill someone and then that person laughs in your face - and you subsequently kill them - THATS DEATHMATCHING!!!!11!1!!eleven!!!

Deal at this location and...

Option 01: Get security from my gang, just provide an cut of the income!
Option 02: Get shot! This is my gang's turf...

Make money off pimps, prostitutes and so on and you could have a rather large network income, just think about whats best for your gang.

Whoa.. WHOA! Calm down there, "Get shot! This is my gang's turf..."!?!?!?
Ban! No Gang Turf, and certainly no roleplaying gang fights!! I would have thought that that was obvious.

Wait, no I wouldn't have. Sorry gangs, you can't actually roleplay stuff with any guns. Because thats deathmatching - even if both sides consent!
Gangwars are like underage sex - even if both sides agree and consent, it still isn't allowed.

Used cars

See some hot car cruising down the streets? Lure them to a car-show and threaten them with their own life, take the car and sell it for discount prices, a very cost effective business! Works for both mafias and gangs.

Problems with this:
:: Carjacking
:: People don't care about dying. They only care about losing the $100, thats why people cry so much when they get owned. They aren't about to lose more money to survive, because survival is a moot point.
:: To add to this, modded cars cost money. If they lose the car, they lose money. CRY! CRY! DM! CARJACK! H4X0R!?.
:: Oh, and hardly anyone is about to buy a modded car, because it cost them money. Simple as.

Parking lot

Option 01: Park here for '$$' and your car will be safe.
Option 02: If you want your car in one peice when your back, pay '$$$'!!

If they refuse to pay, and you trash their car, they will report you for carjacking and you will get kicked. Enjoy.
I know, its retarded. But them's the rules.

Oh, also. People won't pay to park, they'll just find another car. If the car is modded, they won't ever park it anywhere, they'll just drive it until it explodes or the server restarts (at which point, of course, they'll cry).

Again, think - what would attract the cops?

"Hey SWAT team, we're doing a drugs deal at Ocean Docks at 8. We'd like you to have had an "Anonymous Tipoff" and ambush us."

Unless you actually do that, nothing will.
:)

Actually, if you have one hostage you have something like a 2/100 chance of getting paid, depending on who you ask. Again, ask any cop who doesn't have enough money and they will come to kick your ass, hostage alive or not - as long as they get their $300!

Like once, we were at Chinatown Alleyway HQ, and we had like 10 guys with one hostage. In come the SWAT, and we send out two unarmed negotiators (me and Sama). Well, we state the terms. Then the SWAT start shooting us - SWEET! We run like hell then kill the hostage. Then more people die, including some SWAT. Real smooth.. o_o.

So yea, great guide in principal. But gangs and Mafias beware - this is a very unofficial guide. The tips in here are great but most are stubbed by the rules in some way or another - although it has to be said that its not the fault of the rules. It is, in fact, the fault of the moaning victims of the crimes, who lose money. Give everyone 3 million bucks, and HAPPY SERVER TIME! Hello Roleplay. So yea, very unofficial.
To be precise, any kind of official guide would look something like this:

:: Wear Tags, and hold fun events that nobody gets shot in or gets hurt by!
That is all.

Wow, that really does sound a lot like a clan to me.

@ panda:

at the searching drugs:
we can search car yes, but there isnt really a search command that you really see it,
so its just a lucky guess if you got drugs or not
