Alright so here is my two cents on this:

the statement that if you think of yourself as lousy they have won is true. That is what they want you to think. The most important thing is to take shit from no one. If shit is handed to you, give it right back. Fight back. If you lose, learn to fight better, or do some strength training. Never try to start stuff, that just makes you lose respect. Never tell a teacher or principal. Because, that is just asking for more. If you get shoved down, get back up.

People do that to you at school?    At least I know in my school I've never had anything really like that happen to me...  Nobody does that stuff probably because if they do they know they will get in a shit load of trouble...

But I agree with Gandalf...If I like someone or they like me I'll be nice and if they come up to me being rude or whatever it may be I'll just ignore them...  And I don't know how the rules or laws are where you love but if someone is physically hurting you, you should tell someone, counselor, principle, teacher?

In my school if someone threatens or physically hurts you on the first offense the punishment is Out Of school Suspension, recommendation for Superintendent Hearing, and the Police get notified.  The second and third offenses are based on the first/second one....

it's more than self defense. they hit you, hit them back. let them know you don't take shit from anyone of there kind, and it'll stop happening. it's called sticking up for yourself:P even if you are smaller than them, you can probs take them. kick them in the knee cap as hard as you can as they go for you.
