Flood of database? Please, what you should be concerned about is the game servers staying up if they're using flatfiles! MySQL is an very reliable system and an forum of this size doesn't cause much stress, and an art "forum" wouldn't cause any more load.

The image gallery is an limited system, you can't really "express yourself", and it's... just... bulky.

"Forums are for discussions... It is not a museum of art..."

I already said, that obviously there would be discussion of others' art in the forum! It wouldn't be something like the gallery with people only posting pictures!

All we can do - to remove from description of Argonath pictures the sign "Only for GTA pictures"...
Use that forum for art discussions...

Let me check the disussion.
What you want is a place where you can show your pictures, people can comment on them and rate them.
If we use a forum where people open threads, people will discuss your posts. So either you must edit your post or add new pitures by opening a new thread. Otherwise the pictures will be invisible somewhere in the middle of the thread.

What is the solution ? An image gallery where people an post their pictures and where the comments are below the picture. Not mixing of pictures or topics, a real rating system and a place to upload.

I am not concened about webspace or bandwith. The server is using less than 5% of either at the moment. There for we rather provide a place for you guys to pload the images as links to sites that can cause trouble. Ever tried to play MTA with an imagesHACK link open ?

Our preference is to make this gallery on the multimedia site. But if opening topics works better for you.... :roll:

Do not roleplay a veteran on discord, be a veteran in game.

The Argonath RPG web portal could really use some improvements: having a totally different site for every "subsite" along with an another forum installation isn't nice, it's bulky (and I don't think that anybody even uses the other sites)

Pretty much gandalf we would just like a section under "Off topic" as "Art section" Description "Member art!" a place where we can put it on the main forums where it will be looked at, instead of a spin off site :(. I dunno, i use photobucket, imageshack mainly, the size limits for the gallery are too small, and lets face it. No one looks up to the top to search for images. its better where people can see it, not hideen away at the top...

As for imagesHACK, heh? i thought it was, image shack, meaning house of images.  :conf:

You start topic, posted a picture...
Then starts discussion... After month you decided to post another picture, again discussion... Then another picture after another month, again discussion...
Your topic will have for example 10 pages...
And if people really wanna just to see your pictures to make some point about you as a creator - they must list ALL pages to find the links...

I am not talking that it is lame even...
it is hard for users to find out the correct one...

If it is art - it should have some preview...

I have no idea WHY you do NOT want to make a normal galery with the dicsussions of each CURRENT picture, where players can see at once all thumbnails of your pictures, rate as well...

But if you wanna a lame "art" topics for your art - use forums "Argonath Pictures"...

http://www.forums.court-records.net/viewforum.php?f=15 (not advertising, totally unrelated forum) is an good example of such an system working perfectly. A gallery is rather unnecessary if things can be done this way.
