Leaving Argonath RPG - [Rstar]Jcstodds
Ladies and gentlemen ... today I say goodbye to Argonath RPG. For good? Possibly. The time has come where I need to move on, do more things to advance in life.
“It’s been goodâ€ÂÂ- Haldir. Yeah, it’s been good, it’s been one of the best experiences that will not be forgotten. To be part of such a great community… to play a part in such a game.
As I sieve through over 4000 screenshots and hundreds of other Argonath associated media, it feels like a part of my heart is being tugged back. It is truly a place that you can belong. So many fun times, funny times, and some very memorable times. The best game I have ever played.
Scrolling through the forum, which has been a second home, making sure it is tidy, making sure the furniture is in the right place, and making sure no one shits in the wrong place!… and then I see the time… 30 Days. One month of my life dedicated solely to the forums. Not wasted, I do not regret it. It has helped me develop as a person and within the community (If any of you can be bothered, read some of my first posts!). It is a place to make friends, to make enemies – but always changing and something new every day. A retreat from numbing boredness, even if it is one of those annoying spam topics (although I still won’t admit to enjoying 2 word stories).
So why am I leaving? Well… for a start, I didn’t decide overnight. I have considered it for quite a while, but didn’t want to abandon my responsibilities. I just feel that now is a good time to leave. I could go on about the usual ‘I have lots of work and shit’, shit, but I will save you the hassle! Many will find out for themselves. I have to admit, the world was becoming more repetitive, and I become bored very easily (with the exception of SA). Many RP’ ‘events’ I held more recently have been reruns of past RP experiences… I hope all the players who took part will develop their own RP ideas and get more players involved. I hope everyone who reads this will consider spending some of their own ingame money to make RP happen…
I suppose one thing that triggered my leaving, was people asking for more ‘RP Events’. Which I found funny. Events I made were somewhat RP (with admin support). But ‘RP events’ was referring to role-play I had made in character, and not as admin. This I found quite bad. Regulars referring to roleplay as an event! Roleplay had deteriorated so much, that it was an ‘event’ when someone got off their arse to make something happen?! … you know what I mean.
So, here goes the goodbyes:
ALSMy own group, lead with Haldir. There have been some amazing times, working together, RPing together. My dream for ALS was to create a civil RP business, to provide jobs for many civilian players, host events, and make more RP. The business aspect of ALS was just some of the RP involved. I remember ALS coming together as limo drivers, cops, clowns even… It was not about the business, it is about the RP, giving the server more roleplay, and having fun.
Admin team There are a lot of admin’s I have made good friends with, and of course some admins’ I didn’t get on well with. All admins however have my respect. Most do a great job looking after the server. If I had one, I would take my hat off to all you guys. It was a great honor to be an admin in such a grand community, despite it taking 3 attempts! (Due to some confused circumstances).
All in all, to become an admin you have to sacrifice a lot of freedoms. There is a lot of time spent helping people rather than roleplaying, but it is definitely worth it. In the past I have heard people trying to become admins by helping other players and in general (and are usually blasted for sucking up to admins) – If you want to be an admin, they are always looking for caring players who are willing to help others. Admins will always make mistakes too, and hopefully learn from them, so to any admins who are going through hard times, don’t give up! You are the backbone of the Argosociety.
Im going to miss the nonsensical admin chat though...
Argonath players This may seem somewhat impersonal, not naming everyone who has influenced my life ingame and out, but I could not name everyone, because there are soooooooooo (oooooooo) many!
It is no doubt the community that has kept me playing. There are so many memories chaotically disordered in my head of Argonath (nearly 2 years worth) that there are few words that can do justice I suppose, that can describe the fun times with all players. I just hope I have helped people as much as they have helped me. I don’t think I will forget many players as there are few players I have not RP’ed with. (although I forget msn names quite easily).

So, what now? Well, this year I take exams which determine the University I can get into (if I can get into). So this means studying (does everyone get that sinking feeling when they hear/read
studying?)
So for the time being I will be inactive ingame and on forums. Perhaps on very important special occasions I might come ingame under a different alias. Perhaps next year I will be active again... I don’t know.
