This reminds me of something I saw a while back about a new mobile phone technology being developed where by instead of putting your phone against your ear, you got some wire connected to your arm and you stick your finger in your ear. This was a long time ago, so I'm assuming it wasn't very successful.

All I remember is that the wire connected to your arm sends sound waves/vibrations from your phone to your bones, so the sound waves/vibrations transfer from your finger bone to your ear when you stick you stick it in. ;p
