Mike's Webmaster Application.

Hi, I am Mike from the UK, I am a police officer and IT support consultant for a company called TNT.
I know some PHP and Some HTML, I know how to use and SQL Database and I also know some Ajax*.
I can make nice looking sites and I will post some links so you can see my work soon.
Of course I have FTP experience.

Offtopic: I am a keen argo player who gets annoyed easily.

Hello,

I am 17 years old and I have been working with computers since I was 12.  I have worked on servers (hosting) since I was 13.  I hosted MuOnline and Counter Strike (mainly administered).  I have an extensive knowledge of website design in Dreamweaver, as well as the basic knowledge of HTML coding from scratch.  I do not know how to code PHP.  I have a pretty good knowledge of MySQL databases, which is the type of databases that are being used for these forums.  I just got out of a class last semester that taught me SQL (Structured Query Language).  I would like to provide my expertise because I have a vast knowledge of managing websites and working with databases.  Also, I can design things in HTML if someone lays out the design for me.  I am a very quick learner.  If I need to learn something and someone is able to teach it to me, I pick it up very quickly.

As for FTP (file transfer protocol), I have been hosting those since I started hosting servers.  I know how to use them very well.  For example, the filezilla FTP server requires an FTP client (if using XAMPP web server package) you would need to set the options for your FTP client to Active so that you can connect to the FTP server.

I play the SA:MP server on Argonath and I enjoy it very much.  Even though I have not been playing here long I am very active and I plan to be staying for a very long time.  All I ask is that this application be considered, and put on hold if it does not qualify because I have not been with Argonath for long enough.  I will completely understand this and will be patient if that's what it comes to.

A little about myself: I am a very great Roleplayer.  As some of you may know me in-game I am a cop and do my job the best I can.  I have roleplayed countless traffic stops and arrests on Argonath SA:MP.  Also, I have applied for Cadet position and my application can be viewed here.  As you can see many people believe that I am a great roleplayer and that I am up for the job as a cop.  I own 3 computers, 2 desktops and one laptop. I love working with computers and especially troubleshooting things.  For some reason it's the challenge that I like.  I love to play the guitar.  I've been playing for about 4 years and it's a great activity that calms me down when I'm flustered.  I have a dog (Buddy) and a cat (Gunny) which are very great pets.  I believe that's about it.  I hope to become a part of the Web Master team as I believe I can provide good help to Argonath.

1. For two sites there will not be a time
2. ARPD site will be leaded police officers...

How will the people be contacted if accepted to join the webmaster team?  Also will there be a test that will be given, such as an HTML knowledge test that we need to pass to be accepted? I'm just brainstorming out loud, just let me know when you have time.

I used to run a site named everlessguild.com, however we closed it down recently as no one had the finance to keep it running,
altough I only play in-game period-wise (so to say), I have always been active on the forums.
The gaming world is a part of my world
I know the rules of Argonath RPG, and it's policy.
I do not have great knowledge of Joomla, nor FTP, however I do not lack it.

There's no point for me to write anything more, you know who I am.

Just a question to Aragorn, main forum and ARPD forum operate using the same "functions" (membergroup, etc.) right? If so I might apply since I have a tiny bit of experience, anything to help out the community, right?

Thanks for your opinion.  Also that's the bare minimum that I can do with Dreamweaver.  It was for a class, so all I did was make it to get by.  Also as you can see my real name is Kegan Reichert, as it is posted on my website.

I can say I am active, maybe not that much in Argonath's site, but I am too active in other ones.. I'm checking the [ARPD/Argo] news almost everytime i get on pc, and open my browser..
2. Good knowledge of Gaming World
I have a good knowledge of games, i am always updated [meaning by games on pc] and have or always testing the new ones... and also a PC Gamer Addict haha, Prefer to play First Shooter and Racing games like Need For Speed ones

Well, I am not yet that active on forum [Argo's], but i am starting to be like, as I am really Active in some other's like my own... or WS and ARPD
4. Knowledge of web mastering
Well, I currently own nearly 27 sites [I Say Nearly, because some of them are still under construction, and sites are not in any kind of freehost, we have our own servers-domains] with 2 other friends of my, I've been working in Forums [IPB,SMF,phpBB,vBulletin(licensed),FreeBoard] for 4 years, and i'm really good, on adding mods, creating small ones, etc, I am an expert in HTML Language, I am good on CSS too, and i'm willing to start learning/coding in PHP
5. Designing possibilities
I Can design themes/styles on vBulletin [Have done 2 on vBulletin and 2 in IPB so far since now, PM me to see them..], and i got 3 years experience on Adobe's Photoshop, I have worked on Photoshop CS 2 and CS 3, and also in Adobe's Illustrator CS3, where i had created just 2 pictures while testing [I also got online gallery in photobucket, with my work, of signatures/avatars made mostly in Photoshop, for requests...]
6. FTP experience
File Transfert Protocol aka FTP, is a protocol or as else a way to upload files on a server... i mostly use FileZilla for that, just to upload or edit [php/html] files for my sites...
7. Knowledge of Argonath RPG Rules and Policy
I do know them, and not willing to brake even once...

Hmmm been thinking about it.. getting more and more anxious to possibly apply. Another quick question, would it be that big of a problem if you had more experience with forum maintenance than the website? (Also would that affect if you get accepted or not?)

 Well, I don't want to ramble on about my whole history but I joined Argonath in late 2007, about a month after the 3.0 scripts were released. I'll be honest right now, I love Argonath. It's my first online multiplayer community (believe it!) and I honestly can't believe it myself. I love it here and I'm so glad I've made it to where I am now. It's amazing though how fast the time goes by, how innocent and so new to it all back then. As time progressed though, I saw people come, people leave, and I couldn't even imagine what It'd be like to be them.. I mean I found a place in here, somewhere always to refuge to.. but anyway, back on topic!

   As the months and years went on I've grown, from regular, to admin, officer to Captain and currently Deputy Chief in the ARPD. I know for a fact that of course, the main forum is a MUCH greater responsibility and will require a lot more strength to help in but I'm pretty certain I'll be able to help as much as possible, and that's all I wish to do, lend a helping hand. So, as you just read Aragorn, Gandalf, anyone else that's my inspiration for wanting to apply this evening. So now for the statistics (*nervous*), well I'm one of the "night" guys, if you want to call it that and I'm pretty proud. Sadly, I'm one of the few semi night guys left, not including our pals from South America .

   My experience with some sort of "webmastering" would be the ARPD forums. I've searched all through that I possibly could because managing the forum is something that I would love to do. I would be more than happy to update news, keep the forum up to date with ingame events, messages, etc. and just overall help improve anything I can.

   I think I've proven myself pretty worthy, I know I'm not the most "poster" kind of person and I'm quite shy but I'm willing to help. I haven't a lot of experience with actual FTP, and I'm not the best artist but would be more than willing to learn. I'm always crawling around the forums as soon as I get the chance, and am active ingame as well. Not as much as most would prefer but throughout the weekends and when I can I am.

   I have a good bit of knowledge of different games, and of course can always research if needed! Activity in general is always (and can be) filled as much as possible and times like this (especially on weekends) I'm always free and can help update when things are quiet and would be more than grateful to help out with the main web page. Lastly, my knowledge of the rules and policy, are of course, understood and respected.

I've been here for almost 2 years and have respected Argonath, it's amazing community, amazing gaming quality, and most importantly the ability to never give up no matter how hard it gets and am PROUD to say I'm still here, still holding my head up high, and still trying to keep going. Now that that's over I think I'll try and go stop shaking now )
