Misconceptions and situations about rules and administration

Here are some common misconceptions which have been displayed both in-game and on the forums by people:

/report usage, /report not working or admins not listening

When a report is seen, an admin doesn't just immediately warn/kick/tempban/ban the person. Instead, someone in the admin chat decides to investigate. They spectate the situation and advise the player (mostly privately) to stop breaking rules, unless it is a hacker in which case they will almost certainly be banned

Examples of problems people complain about:

"player X was reported by player Y for carjacking" - we can't just give the car back...we most of the time don't see the person being carjacked. The only thing we can really do is advise them that carjacking is not allowed and to not do it again

"player X was reported by player Y for deathmatching" - again, we can't just act on it. We need to see the situation and if it is considered deathmatching then we privately tell them not to do so, or we use public commands like /warn, /kick or worse if they continue

"player X was reported by player Y for hacks" - be more specific...otherwise it takes longer to figure out what kind of hack they are using and punish them

"player X was reported by player Y for ban him" - need a valid reason

"player X was reported by player Y for ARE ADMINS ASLEEP?" - no, we are investigating...play the game and let us handle it

"admin X was reported by player Y for abusing power" - [email protected] for complaints

"I was banned for no reason"

Everyone is banned for a reason, regardless of if banning was a fair punishment or not. Admins do not ban people for no reason, or they can expect to lose their rights. Furthermore, if anyone says in their unban request things like "admin X banned me for no reason, he is an abuser" then it will only slow your chances of getting an unban

In-Character and Out-Of-Character flaming

Both are against the rules, no rules have changed - flaming someone in roleplay is still flaming

Revenge killing

Was never allowed, still isn't - REGULAR PLAYERS who decide that it would be great to revenge kill a new player who deathmatched them (and has already been sorted by administration) can receive a ban. You people KNOW that it is against the rules

Gang wars

still not allowed. The closest thing you can get to a "gang war" is a gang meeting which somehow turns a little bit rough...and it is highly advised that you do not do this

Returning after death


If you are a suspect, returning after death is against the rules as it promotes deathmatching

If you are a cop, returning after death is NOT against the rules - MAY CHANGE APPARENTLY

"Player X is provoking me, admins do something"

How about this...

IGNORE THEM

If you decide to take matters into your own hands and start deathmatching them or whatever because they are provoking you, then it is likely that you yourself get punished. Just ignore people that provoke you...

Admins should refund for bugs/lost weapons

Most admins in-game are normal players with limited cash (their own from RP) and so are not comfortable with just handing it out to players for "bugs" when it's not even certain that the player is telling the truth

Best thing to do - contact a high level admin. They can have logs checked and then transfer money if they believe you deserve it

"I lost 10k+ worth of guns from server restart, I want them back"

Moral of the story: don't buy so many guns without storing them, and when you buy them use /spawnreset...it saves weapons

"Admins restart the server please [insert reason here]"

1. The reason is invalid

2. The server won't be restarted for a single person when it would inconvenience the rest of the server

3. Admins can't restart the server unless they are of certain level
