Now for my take. If the guy is leading the group, than its his responsibility what happens. If he is a member, there will be one guy who leads.

Now if he is leading, the thing to do is to embarass him in front of his group. That can be done by taking HIS parents to the meeting and let them see how their son acts. No matter how tough he is, when his mother shows up he will turn in to a small boy for the group.

If he is just a member who was protected, get the leader and give him your case. Tell him the guy caused you to hurt over his own mistake, and took his guys in to it. You do not want the whole group to get in trouble but unless the guy is kicked out it will happen. If the guy thinks you are bluffing, call the cops.

Never answer violence with more violence. It will be answered again and just escalate until someone gets seriously hurt or killed. Life is too precious to waste.
Remember that if you take in hand any kind of weapon you have to know how to use it and be prepared to. Otherwise it will be turned against you real fast.

And unlike 'soft' drugs the lasting effects of moderate consumption of alcohol have been proven as positive.

Yes very mild consumption of alcohol, not constantly or amounts to get you drunk either. And Oliver, ethyl alcohol is also way more useful as a fuel source.
