I made this topic to apologise for my behaviour yesterday and actually to explain the reasons for it being that way. This topic was also made to explain why certain things happened which may have annoyed others...
What happened and the reasons for it happeningAs people may or may not know, I was accepted as a scripter recently and have been doing little things such as working on bugs while at the same time working on a big script for Argonath which at first was very stressful to even think about as it seemed difficult, but when I finally got the method right I calmed down a little bit and actually made a good script (apart from some little problems, it works very well). I have been working on this script for 2 or 3 days straight because I am going on holiday on sunday and didn't want to keep CBFASI waiting for over a week to receive it from me - didn't think it was fair, as I believed that he would want to see it and make relevant changes to it as soon as possible. Therefore, I decided to spend yesterday as mainly a bug fixing day so I can finish the script completely, while keeping my sanity by spending little breaks on the server and forums.
Anyway, a break came and I was on the forums - and I found a topic about a petition. I read the topic and it was NitrOx's gang war idea - which in my head immediately disagreed with. Why? Because I remember from when I was a trial moderator (admin level 1), there were a few gangs (can't remember the names) who would have gang wars multiple times every day. I remember at the time, many admins resorted to watching them fight to make sure that they didn't return after death or revenge kill. This was made harder by the fact that the gangs were so big that we had to write down the names of people and check everyone entering the situation. During this time, the admins who would be normally banning hackers etc were watching this situation, and so we got a lot of people complaining that admins didn't do anything when people reported. I myself would watch other reports such as people being carjacked and just general rulebreaks, but I was unable to because of this...
So, to summarise - gang wars happened, people moaned and sent complaints about each other, normal players got angry because nobody was answering reports and admins got complaints when what happened was not our fault...
Anyway, not long after that (I am not even sure how) some sort of rule passed which disallowed gang wars completely unless admins said so etc. You can imagine at the time pretty much all admins saying "no" to gang war requests, because they always went out of hand and generally didn't go well. After a lot of complaints about this from gang war participants, things really calmed down for a long time. There were no more gang wars and nobody complaining about the rules.
Anyway, I saw the petition topic and decided to give my opinion on it - after all, people had given theirs. So I give my opinion and get some instant reply contradicting it. Well...it's an opinion. You don't contradict opinions, you contradict arguments. You may have an opposite opinion, but it gives nobody the right to suddenly say "go away, your opinion is useless" as it's just as valid as the next person's. You can imagine me getting just a little annoyed when actual opinions were getting destroyed just because they were different to other people. My opinion was pretty much the same as other admins who were around the same time (or even longer) than myself:
gang wars cause people to deathmatch with hardly much of a reason, and this has been proven in the past
gang wars would happen for reasons such as "they killed me yesterday"
people would return after death at gang wars, also known as revenge killing which is deathmatching
people would complain about the other gang winning (they would say they were hacking etc)
What really got to some of us was that in the petition topic there was a comment saying something like "but we always have gang wars without admin permission, why shouldn't they be allowed?", just showing that a lot of people don't care about the rules at all and just want to make their own - which was shown yesterday in-game when I entered during a break (which I was supposed to be scripting before, but I was on the forums with this in my mind) in which a load of people were (according to the admins online) about to start a massive gang war involving three or four gangs. It occurred to us that these people had either believed that the rules had been lifted because of the petition topic all of a sudden or generally were trying to protest in some way. Either way, pretty much all of the admins online watched the gangs prepare for the gang war and actually warned with announcements "remember, gang wars are not allowed without permission" and "unannounced gang wars are reasons to ban people" as NONE of us were told about the gang war actually happening. Pancher overheard from someone (possibly another admin) and alerted us all about the situation.
We were watching the CB chat as well as the players and realised that there was no roleplay intended. For example, the plan of on gang was to fly into the HQ of the other gang with a shamal and bail out and fight...how realistic - we all knew that this was going to get ugly, so we waited for the moment...
The moment came when NitrOx asked literally just before taking off the plane full of people if they could have a gang war. Their request was denied and immediately we got abuse from NitrOx, things like "admins ruined roleplay", and then he flamed administration in his CB channel, so Pancher banned him. THAT was the reason for ban, not "having a gang war" which a lot of people seem to be complaining to ME about for some reason...
NitrOx posted a topic which didn't really look like an unban request, more a topic saying "admins are to blame", and as you can imagine I got annoyed about it, considering that I was supposed to be taking a break and then scripting again and instead every admin online was forced to watch a gang war take place. When I was in-game I got requests like "hey David, can you set a house for me?" but I couldn't...so they got annoyed. Is this fair? No...other players should realise that they are not the only ones on this server. Players who are in trouble or want help had to wait for the situation to end...
Anyway, those are the reasons for being annoyed yesterday
ApologyI'll say this as I think it's needed - sorry NitrOx for what I said on your unban request, it was not meant to be taken harshly. What I meant to say was something along the lines of "we do not take kindly to people rulebreaking, mainly disrespecting the rules - especially if they are regular players". I guess I didn't think about what I wrote and I am sorry, got a forum warning from it too which is completely fair as it was uncalled for.
I apologise to everyone else out there who for some reason or another doesn't like me. A lot of people don't like me and I'm not sure why, I guess it's just me...but still I am sorry I guess
Conclusions made from yesterdayThe following conclusions were made by me last night:
1. people don't want to listen to administration, they would rather run the server by themselves and if they get to the point where they actually need help from admins, they would rather stew in their own juices than accept our help and guidance
2. banning regular players is seen as a sin to the players, a conclusion I made because every time I or another admin have banned a regular player, we get disrespect from almost everyone when all we are doing is enforcing rules (like we do on new players too...)
I banned Killar last night because I saw him /q abuse - alright fine, I MAY be wrong just like we can be when we ban people. However I didn't just ban because I was annoyed or felt like banning someone. I banned him because he is a regular player who knows the rules and actually has been banned in the past for the same thing, so a ban was in order. All I can say to Killar is that only the logs have the answer, as I think you did what you did and everyone else says you didn't
3. I'm not welcome here any more...
Such comments such as this one grabbed my attention:
David you are starting to annoye the most of the comunity, now i am telling you this as a friend, relax, take a break, or just put your part of job to others, your judgment is not clear, your emotion have become faster then your brain, your overreacting, you even got a Forum Warning ffs...
My point is, you shoud TALK with Killar before baning ( cause thats what MOST Admins does before baning ), ask him what happend, why he did etc etc... Rusty did /q few days ago, 3-4 Admins talk with him, he admited, he just had a punishment Mordor, Today Seether was /q when we sourouded it, Jay_Adams talk to him, he admited and sayed sorry, it was fine, so why you ban Killar straight away?
Also lets wait check logs, to see DID or DID NOT Killar died, if he didnt ( since he says he was INSIDE Hq, when that happend ), then ban is not valid....
So what is going to happen next?
Well this is my idea of a solution:
1. I keep doing my admin job, as I have nothing left to go back to (sold all my properties, disbanded my group, etc) and also because although it's hard I never give up
2. I will keep out of all discussions about the gang wars, and even stay away from them in-game. If you people want them, have them...I won't try to help out as you don't want my help
3. I will keep doing my development for the server, as I enjoy it and want to fulfill my original goal in the first place (which actually persuaded me to be a scripter) - help CBFASI and Gimli
4. I am not going to leave as really I can't - I will go away for a week (sunday 21st June - Sunday 28th June) starting from tomorrow. Hopefully when I get back all of the problems will be gone. I don't want to come back to find even more abuse from people...
My goals to be achieved when I come back in a weekMy scripts for Argonath will be finished
I will help more players with problems
I will fix more bugs
I will try to get people to actually like me again. I know people don't like me for whatever reason and I don't enjoy that. I'm not one of those people who wants to be hated, I'm one of those people that doesn't want to be alone or singled out in a crowed. I want to be one of those people that people actually like seeing on the forums and server, who people may respect or listen to. I want to be liked, as many others are...
Furthermore I want to be someone that people trust. Some people do trust me and I thank those people for staying by me through everything I have done...which is a lot. It means a lot to me...

By the way, you can post whatever you like - I said my bit now you say yours. The reasons at the top are not an argument in support of what I have done, but they are my reason for doing it.
