I don't really think it's because of Red Cross. My mother works in Polish Red Cross, I've asked her, gay people can donate blood same way as others here. However like a year ago some people tried to pass a law that disallows donating blood by homosexuals, but the moves were made on the Government side, not Red Cross.

Im guessing they think that 'gayness' is in blood... litrally, in your blood so if you pass it on to someone else they become gay

Well, at least that's a somewhat reasonable explanation. I was expecting something stupid like someone at the top simply doesn't like gays, seeing as that's generally the reason for most of the anti-gay laws.

There are a large amount of AIDS cases in the gay community but its just as likely for a heterosexual to have AIDS to. It used to be referred to as the gay disease, still a scapegoat. I remember hearing gays can't give blood or something, I forget where I read it. If I really wanted to give blood I wouldn't disclose anything though lol.

I agree with Hircine, if I do ever want to give blood. I woulnt disclose my sexuality.. just to be on the 'safe' side I guess.
But even though the Gay community does have a large amount of AIDS cases, the straight community still has the same chance of having AIDS.

Technically speaking, why disallow Gay people to give blood due to AIDS.. when straight people could also have AIDS? Im confused about this, though it could be a totally noobish/stupid question. Can someone answer this?
