Hey there guys. I have a problem with my laptop - HP Pavillion DV5 ( 3gb's ram 2.2 ghz dual core ; Ati 3450 crossfire [256mb up to 1536mb's] ). In the begining when I bought it it used to run GTAIV on medium graphic settings on the original resolution of 1280x800 but now when I try to run different games its all the same - SLOW! Im running the stock Vista Home Premium which is S**T and I cant seem to play GTASA normally... Things started yesterday. I use TuneUp utilities verry often ( 1-2 times a week) by defragmenting, cleaning up registry , updating everything etc. but it seems that once Vista starts cluttering there is no other option but reinstall it. Unfortunately I do not have an original Vista DVD and there is some funky BIOS protection that was installed by them fellas at HP preventing me from downgrading to XP and I really dont want to flash BIOS to a point where its more S**T than now.In short my PC was working like an AK47 and now its working like a broken vending machine ...  :(

Do you have a solution?

Does that all the time but I dont have any cans of compressed air to clean it up from the inside... When I blow in its vent hole ( not funny ... ) usually alot of dust escapes from the other 2 and the same ... I dont seem to be able to blow all the dust and clutter out ... I will try to dissassemble it without breaking the warranty sticker ( I have my ways :P ) and check it out. If anyone has other solutions please share now before I dismantle my beloved ( yeah right ) PC

Yeh it's also good to try to clean your PC from dust as much as possible - it's the main cause of overheating. Get one of these coolers for extra help, costs like 20-30 euros or something. http://www.coolermaster.com/products/product.php?act=detail&id=4787

Try to get the dust out with vacuum cleaner, easy and fast solution, and get one of those laptop stands with the fans.

vacuums believe it or not, can short out electrical equipment..

so only use blowers

i extremely doubt Overheating is causing this.. so, ill try and help you over MSN.

this problem seems too complex for the forums

The thing I did was buy a plastic laptop stand from IKEA, Drill a couple of holes in it and issolate the holes that the laptop sucks air from, from the ones that it throws the hot air out of. It's a really clever setup so my laptop is finally cooling kind of good. Im thinking of getting a normal PC fan from a processor and sealing the two ends of the stand. When I connect the fan through a USB port using the red and black wires it will even further improve the cooling. But it seems it just doesnt help ... Vista is totally full of clutter even when I clean it up. The registry is from here to Mars even when I defragment it  I clocked the Video( Ati 3450 256megs on it; available to get up to about a gig and a half from the onboard memory ) The hard disk is reasonably fast, Processor is pretty much enough for this machine so I dont know what I can further improve on it. Got the temperatures down to 60-65 degrees celsius from about 80-90 with my current setup so any further ideas would be appreciated  :)
