What is "an RP"?
We never used to have "an RP". RP situations and stuff were never present in RS2, we just had "situations".

People throw around those two letters way too much, just play and have fun.
Also, if you try to rob me, I will shoot you dead with my combat shotgun (if I have it on me, else I'll call for backup on CB and run using SAMP lag to survive). I do not have type /me to pull out my gun, why should I? You can see me draw the bloody thing, and then shoot you in the face. Expect it, and account for that by shifting around.

The only RPing I do these days is selling Food and Drink. As for roleplaying, I am a Yakuza leader. I am roleplaying that. I don't have to be online in the server to be playing that role. You can roleplay without even being online, I am the leader of the Araatus Yakuza. That is my role. I am playing it.
You don't need any commands to roleplay. Not even local chat.
You need local chat, /me, etc. to act as your role ingame.
Don't confuse roleplaying with acting as your role ingame, they aren't the same.

Oh, by the way, public chat is one of the best things about Argonath.
Servers without it are heartless servers full of dickheads who use IC/OOC nonsense to insult you.

Panda, I agree with your opinion, although sometimes I do say /me pulls out gun, but when I do, i just do it, and shoot, i dont waste 10 minutes letting them run (Unless it's like just RP fun or something) 1 thing though...

Your missing the point. This topic is about the Role Play itself of the server, not how you RP, just RPing in general, re-read my post, I'm not talking about /me or anything, it's about how much RP there is anymore that is not just 'ohai, uhm... give me your money, or die. LOL.' or 'want drugs? no? If not then go away idiot' or something. That is NOT really RP (well in some cases, robbery IS RP if it is not just aim and shoot robbery, otherwise, I see that as DM in my eyes) imo, but whatever.

I agree that the roleplaying level of this community has been lowered ever since the day I joined Argonath. I understand that there are no strict regulations enforcing realistic roleplay, but atleast try to be as realistic as you can.

You're right Y2JFaN, it is hard to have serious RP. The thing most people do is talking in main chat about real life stuff. I don't think I've had very good RP at all lately, except when I went to GS9 today with the hobos buying some shampkoo and smoked some weed with the hobos and stuff, that was very fun, I gotta say.

Every time I'm alone or with a friend and we try to RP a robbery, for example, then all people do is either one of these:
- Running away as fast as possible just to save the small ammount of cash they might have to give the robber.
- Pull out a gun from their ass and start to shoot, without any RP at all.
- Give 1 dollar and say 'that's all I got.'
- Say they have no money on them.
- Call someone by /Cb or /Pm to back them up, which is very non-RP, how the hell could you call someone to back you up while you're getting robbed?
- OR JUST A SMALL AMMOUNT OF PEOPLE act scared, like you probably would in real-life.

This is just what I have experienced.

And it has got all about the money now, everyone just Roleplay buying scripted stuff most of the time, like heroin and weed. When I tried to sell RP drugs like cocaine and Ecstacy, then noone buys it, not even if they don't have to pay, just for the sake of the roleplay. And people keep saying 'PM Me' in advertisments and do non-RP ad's without admins doing anything about it.

I do think there should be more roleplay, and some rules that could add more roleplay. For example, removing dual weapons, no bunnyhopping in roleplay, no meta/power-gaming, etc.. But I still find Argonath very fun when I have decent roleplayers to roleplay with.

/p: I'm not playing Argonath to socialize, no offence. That's why I love servers where /p is only for questions or misconceptions about the server/game. It's been obvious to me mainly cops, especially officers, keep talking bout IRL stuff. They just sit in their car, talking about IRL stuff in /p or /cb, being totally oblivious to their surroundings and when they see an orange blip on their radar they turn their sirenes on and go for it. I'm sure, sometimes they just press TAB and use /area ID. Then later they call each other good RPers in /p about their bust while in fact they're the worst RPers in Argonath for ignoring their surroundings when there's no suspect arround. One other note is that I've been a cop a few times and it's really rare a cop gives the location of a suspect through the radio. That just shows how much they would have to use /area ID in order to catch criminals. This is why I'm never applying for ARPD, you guys suck at RP  :razz:.

PM: I don't respond to other players pming me about RP related stuff and I advice everybody to do the same. You'd only encourage them to do it more often. I tell them PM's are not for RP usage or I ignore them. Anyway, I'd never do any businuess deals with them, unless they change their way. It's not much trouble using /getphone ID > /sms -or /call [phonenumber] text to get a hold of somebody.

Robberies: I've experienced that too. When I get robbed properly, I go along with it. No matter how much cash I got on me. I give it all to them. Unless it's some shit that doesn't RP one bit when the roles are reversed, I don't hesitate to return the favour.  

Metagaming: I understand it's hard to enforce a rule on this because of almost any new player metagaming, but a lot of regulars do this too.

/cb abuse: Every single gang/mob in Argonath abuses /cb when they're being kidnapped or robbed. That's a fact.

/l: /l text is IC, /l (( text )) is OOC. Learn the difference!
