it will work fine on 256mb.. But with that budget, why don't you buy a new one?

i found a little overview of your computer specifications, ( http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim1100/EN/SM/specs.htm#wp1076752 ).

A videocard of 256MB will run your game definatly smooth, you will not experience any lagg issue playing GTA:SA.

You are now running on a Integrated Video Chip, meaning you don't have a graphics card at all, except a little chip with very less memory to game on. (Maximum 64MB)
I saw your expantion bus (the thing where you put a graphics card in) is PCI, making it compatible with alot of current graphics cards, However i'm not entirely sure of this since the specs didn't say it was PCI-Express...

I recommend to take a look inside your PC and see if your PC has neither one of these two connectors :

The upper One

The Highlighted One

Here is a little 'scedule" of the 4 types of connectors. Only PCI-Express or AGP matters for the videocard. You should have at least one of them in your PC.

I don't think the Dell Dimension 1100 has a graphics card slot on the oem mobo at all.

if you dont have the box, google it ^^

Maybe clean it sometimes? That is.. just.. omg I can't descripe that :D

If you want to buy new vid. card, else you buy new mobo then vid. card, or weaker vid. card for PCI slot.. HD 3450 runs SA without lag, dunno about PCI slot..

Remember to work with the power cable disconnected  ;)

Take off the screw (on the attached picture) and pull it out.
When you're going to put it back, apply even force so it slides fully and not at only one side, and put the screw back.

If it's actually PCI only and not PCI-e then you will have to go for old graphic cards.

Since your motherboard has no AGP or PCI-E Card, i recommend you to look out for a PCI card. One card i am quite sure of it'll run fine is the Ati AX700, Watch out you only look for the PCI version, beceause this card has several versions around. Reading the box should say it's PCI or not.  ;)

ATI x1550 is far better then the x700..

thats the highest ATI goes on PCI regular

so, get a x1550 (or x1500) if you cant find that, then a x1300
