The Oscar for 2010 was cancelled 2011, yes. But the Oscar for 2011 has to be held 2012 right? :D

Aragorn said the system was being redone. It's no longer about the things it used to be. I don't have a link to it off-hand, but somewhere on the Media subdomain site, it explains what the awards are going to be used for now.

Hopefully there will be Oscars/Nobels/Awards that are actually related to our servers and our community. Not just the musicians(?), photographers and other kind of artists we might have among ourselfs. I do support the initiative of holding such an award ceremony, but not at the cost of removing the other sections.

So I hope the ''Nobels'' will be given as much attention as the Oscars, like said in Aragorn's post.

The awards themselves would obviously be based on things relating to our community, but from what Aragorn said, it looks like it will just be as the awards are stated, and not just any random person being eligible. The other sections were already specifically removed due to the incident SA:MP caused in the Oscars last year, which angered the Server Owners so much that it led to this change in the system. The new system is obviously much more targeted to the same kind of sections in the way it is in real life, rather than the previous system, and it's much harder to cheat in since it requires a physical form of entry to qualify on the ballot, rather than user nominations, but the downside is we also lose the previous system that everyone is used to.
