I will give away a secret that isnt on any skyrim wiki even(bishes cant find it yo)
There is a way to get that root astrid gives you in dark brohood, you need to do a quest and go to a hidden island(quest is super hard). The island is small and i think its like a easter egg or something, on the quest you get some seeds which you can plant on this unbalanced island and the seeds will grow into jarrin trees, then you can harvest their roots for jarrin roots(Can only 1 at a time, and it takes a long time for them to regrow, i think like 30-50 days).
The island also has many other herbs and poisons, its like a alchemy paradise, plus i like the special weather on that island
