Unofficial Alert of Swine Flu on Vice City and nearby Areas

This is an unofficial alert about cases of the H1N1 Virus,also known as Swine Flu. This is a small guide which contains information about the Virus,Symptoms and form of prevention.

1. What is Swine Flu/H1N1? How this started?

Swine Flu or H1N1 is a new Virus and the first cases were spotted at Mexico,around February/March.

2. How this started at Vice City?

As far the Govermment knows,the H1N1 Virus came to Vice City from a Mexican Patient which came to Vice City to a vacation,he did not has shown any symptoms on the Airport but after some days he has died without any warning at City Hall as this Newspaper shows. At the moment we have around 350 cases of H1N1 on Vice City and 32 persons have died.

3. What's the Symptoms? What's the right to do if i feel any of these Symptoms?

The symptoms of the Swine Flu(H1N1) are very similar to symptoms of a normal Flu,they are:

• Fever
• Coughing
• Vomiting
• Headache
• Diarrhea

Also on some cases the Swine Flu can lead to a Pneumonia,and even to a death.

If you feel ANY of these symptoms its highly recommended to you dont go to work and stay on home avoiding of leave it unless its a really important thing(on this case you need a face Mask to avoid another ppl of getting the Flu from you),also,go to the nearest Hospital soon as possible.

4. If i get Swine Flu(H1N1) i have a high chance of die or this depends of my age/health?

The lethality of the Swine Flu is smaller than the lethality of the normal Flu. But your chances of develop a more advanced level of the Swine Flu gets higher if you are Pregnant for already 6 Months or more or if you doesnt have a good health.

5. How can Swine Flu(H1N1) be prevented?

The best way to prevent swine flu would be the same best way to prevent other influenza infections, and that is vaccination. When a safe vaccine is developed (projected to happen in a few months), people should get vaccinated if the disease is still causing infections. The CDC says that a good way to prevent any flu disease is to avoid exposure to the virus; this is done by frequent hand washing, not touching your hands to your face (especially the nose and mouth), and avoiding any close proximity to or touching any person that may have flu symptoms. Since the virus can remain viable and infectious for about 48 hours on many surfaces, good hygiene and cleaning with soap and water or alcohol-based hand disinfectants are also recommended. Some physicians say face masks may help prevent getting airborne flu viruses (for example, from a cough or sneeze), but others think the better use for masks would be on those people who have symptoms and sneeze or cough. The use of Tamiflu or Relenza may help prevent the flu if taken before symptoms develop or reduce symptoms if taken within about 48 hours after symptoms develop. However, taking these drugs is not routinely recommended for prevention because investigators suggest that as occurs with most drugs, flu strains will develop resistance to these medications. Your doctor should be consulted before these drugs are prescribed.

I'll update the topic with the updated number of deaths/cases and if there are any vaccines being devolped by the Govermment.

Update : August 20,2009

There are already 387 Cases of the Swine Flu in Vice City and 34 persons have died. The good news is that a vaccine is actually on a phase of testing by the Govermment and it will be given to the Citizens on about 3 weeks.(Vice City's Govermment was studying that Virus since its start,thats why it was too fast the Vaccine Development)

We will also ship a large quantity of Tamiflu too, to be used on those already with symptoms before vaccination.

Great news. How you want to send the shipment with vaccines and Tamiflu's? I can recieve it by a boat at Viceport or a plane at Escobar International.

The Vice City FBI is Willing to help with the security of the Convoy(s) and Will be Providing Personnel to help with the Distribution of the Vaccines/Medicines to the Hospitals.

Update : August 21,2009

The plane came to Vice City at around 19:30. With the help of the VCPD and the FBI we took the Cargo to all Vice City Hospitals. And,after the distribution we applied the Vaccine at Little Havana Hospital and all worked fine. The Vaccine Distribuion has started. Its recommended to ALL Citzens who doesnt feel any Flu symptoms to apply the Vaccine,and to persons who have Swine Flu symptoms,step out at one of the Vice City Hospitals to take the Tamiflu. You can apply the Vaccine or get the Tamiflu,on case of Swine Flu symptoms at all Vice City Hospitals.
