GTA SA Windowed Mode Modification

Have you ever wanted to run San Andreas in windowed mode, without it pausing on task switch?  Then, now you can, by simply copying a modified "d3d9.dll" to your GTA San Andreas directory.  There are one or two disadvantages however.  This includes the fact that I believe it's not possible to determine the size of the window the game is running in, FPS may decrease slightly and lastly, it's not possible to alternate between windowed mode and full screen while actually playing the game.

If you'd like to stop running the game in windowed mode, you'll need to exit the game and remove the custom "d3d9.dll" file from your GTA San Andreas directory.  Have fun.  ;)

Without it pausing on the what?

What's the benefit of using this instead of simply doing ALT+ENTER on the map screen?

I tested out the dll, and I get what you meant now. Apart from that, this version of windowed mode is better that SA:MP's built in one in that it's not, "always on top".

I believe it's not possible to determine the size of the window the game is running in
The game window is exactly the size of that specified in the display options, just like on SA:MP's built in windowed mode. If you change it while playing, the window will automatically adjust, which I don't think happens in SA:MP's built in version.

Kitsune - Thanks for that bit of information on adjusting the window size, but what I meant was that you can't click a corner and drag it to the size you like.  ;)
