With the collapse of the Soviet Union in late 1991 'many former government workers turned to crime, others joined the Soviet citizens who moved overseas, and the Mafia became a natural extension of this trend. Former KGB gents, sportsmen and veterans of the Afghan and Chechen Wars, now finding themselves out-of-work but with experience in areas which could prove useful in crime, joined the increasing crime wave. Widespread corruption, poverty and distrust of authorities only contributed to the rise of organized crime. Contract Killings reached an all-time high with many gangland murders taking place, a substantial number remaining unsolved. The new criminal class of Russia took on a more Westernized and businesslike approach to organized crime as the more code-of-honor based Vory faded into extinction'.

'Widespread emigration in the 1990s allowed Russian criminal organizations to spread themselves further around the world. Prior to the collapse of communism Russian Jews were allowed to emigrate from the Soviet Union, and many criminals took advantage of this if they were themselves Jewish, acquiring an Israeli passport to be granted permission to leave. In the United States a key location for Russian organized crime was the Russian-Jewish community of Brighton Beach I Brooklyn, New York. Vyacheslav 'Yponchik' Ivankov was the first major Russian organized crime figure prosecuted by the U.S. government, running his extortion operations out of Brighton Beach.'

During the increasing of the red fellas activity, big names such as Vyacheslav Smirnov, Mikhail Samsonov, Alexander Trevyakin, and Nikolai Fedorov began expanding their business ventures into areas unknown before the fall of the Soviet Union. With democracy at play activities came to be, including illegal trafficking and sales of refined oil, cloning high rated automobiles and selling them as official product of such companies, arms trafficking, human trafficking, and drug trafficking, however other aspects of illicit activity include loan sharking, prostitution, murder for hire, tax fraud, credit card fraud, money laundering, and extortion and racketeering. With assets flooding in from multiple illicit businesses, areas of the black market were easily apprehended and controlled by such Eastern European figures. Most notably, Nikolai Fedorov, known Russian Vor and attributed Russian crime boss residing in Los Santos, used extortion and racketeering, the illegal trafficking and sales of refined oil, and arms, human, and drug trafficking to his benefit.

Fedorov's oil scheme was considered a cash cow for Russian Vors and had been unheard of until its introduction by Fedorov in the early 1970s. Hijacking oil transport vehicles from Middle Eastern countries such as Kuwait, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Iran and transporting them to storehouses outside of the countries proved effective. Then transporting the stolen oil back to Russia to be shipped and sold for cheap prices in the western hemisphere exclusively to avoid trouble from the legitimate owners of the stolen oil. Using funds gathered by the illegal sales of stolen oil and the, at the time, unheard of prices on oil, Fedorov was easily able to monopolize the trade. Key players such as Imran Zakhaev and Yuri Nikitin played a crucial role in the scheme.

The Vostochniy Syndicate is known as a confederation of both off the boat Russians and Russian-American gangsters based loosely on the strict code of the Vory. Known primarily, however, as a predominately Russian-American syndicate, the crew is held to a strict code of their own known solely inside the crew based on new laws and guidelines formed by the administration. Reputed as ruthless, ferocious, and malicious, Vostochniy's men are also viewed as optimistic businessmen.

In late 2002, however, a scandal involving Liberty City mayor Miles O'Donovan was tied back to the organization. O'Donovan, predecessor to assassinated mayor Roger C. Hole, was accused of adultery against his late wife with a Ukrainian prostitute who was only seventeen. Photos surfaced of O'Donovan and the prostitute having private rendezvous in several of O'Donovan.

Although the scandal being related to the Vostochnaya Syndicate is only a rumor it is believed by many to be the work of not only one, but several prominent members inside the crew. Suspects of the blackmail scheme Imran Zakhaev, Anton Vostrikov, Vyachlav Smirnov, Mikhail Samsonov, and Yuriy Demidenko were all related and somehow involved with the Vostochniy Syndicate, allegedly.

A major asset of the syndicate is rumored to be political corruption, dating back to the early 1990s having dozens of Russian politicians in their pockets in Russia. Using key figures the syndicate was able to maximize any potential opportunities for illicit activity and the organization blatantly benefited from such opportunity. Not only running the large-scale middle eastern oil scheme, but other plans with cold war weaponry stockpiled in warehouses scattered across Russia, Ukraine, Siberia, and other smaller nations such as Latvia, Estonia, Romania, Armenia, and Serbia. Not only were weapons such as tactical assault rifles and sub machine guns sold but military aircraft, watercraft, and land vehicles; submarines, military bombers and jets, and land vehicles such as tanks, humvees, and other military land transport vehicles were trafficked into US harbors and sold. The crew is also rumored to possess small nuclear weaponry, although such rumors have never been proven. In addition to the trafficking in of arms and drugs the crew is also a large trafficker of humans as well as other wild animals. The sale of wild animals has proven a large asset for multiple organizations in the United States, reputedly raking in over a hundred million dollars a year for organizations dealing with the illegal trade. The syndicate also controls numerous brothels and whore houses in the Los Santos area using the illegally trafficked in women as whores, most of them underage.

Experts say that in the coming years, boss Nikitin and speculated right hand Zakhaev will try and monopolize the drug and gun trade as a group, distributing and supplying most, if not all, of the major dealers around Los Santos. In recent years, the group's membership count has had a noticeable rise from not only Russian Americans, but Jewish, Armenian, Ukranian, Siberian, Latvian, and Georgian Americans entering into the ranks; however nothing can be for certain.

Our mainrules:

1. Always do what higher ranks tell you to do!
2. Always have respect for higher ranks.
3. Predict consequences! Don't do things that would jeopardize the faction itself.
4. Provoking police for fun is not allowed.
5. Being caught stealing money from the organization will get you killed.
6. Do not snitch on your fellow members unless you want to get killed.
7. If you do leave the group, we have the right to kill you.
8. We will not accept you working as a cop, it will get you killed.

Disregarding horrible grammar mistakes in the topic and faction's name, are there any Russians in it who at least know something about its real behaviour?

Good luck.
