Westies (West Highland (White) Terrier)

Anyone have this dog? Any comments could be left? Actually, I've loved dogs all my life, and finally made a decision to get one for my birthday. Of course, will have to persuade parents first of all. Was choosing between Siberian Husky, Alaska Malamute and West Highland White Terrier. Mostly, I'd love to have Siberian Husky or Alaska Malamute, but unfortunately I live in a flat. As they need alot of space, I should live in a house to own one or another. It's different with Westie. So, any comments could be made from owners? I love intelligent dogs, who are something close to a family member, not just a dog. Adorable and gentle dogs... Comment if possible

I think it's a pretty good dog, but for bored people, since they don't really do much.
I prefer Weimaraners. Loyal (duh), fast, strong.

For real though, my family has a uhh.. similar dog (same size and looks about the same I guess lol) and it has a great personality, just like you say, it is a dear family member. I can't really say anything about this breed so I won't.

I guess, you looked only at the photo. German Wolfs are beautiful, but I live in a flat, not in a house with huge backyard where dog would be able to run all the day. Pitbulls - are aweful. I do not like mopses and pitbulls. Eskimo makes negative feels for me, same as poodle. I want a family member, not an idiot who barks at everyone without proper reason (for an e.x. chihuahua).

I am not sure about the Westie, as it looks quite similar to a Maltezer.
Supposing the character is similar, they are fiendly and above all they are almost unable to give a really nasty bite, as you can easily stop them by putting your hand in to their mouth.

How about a Scotch Terrier ? They are not very popular at the time, which means there is less chance of inbreeding. They were famous in the past for their association to the Black & White whisky brand.



Oh and btw... very hard to find outside Russia, there is the Toy Terrier. They are more intelligent as a Chihuahua.

I used to have a Border Collie when I was younger, and I just got a Border Collie / something else, energetic things, but so dumb :P

Scotish Terrier is also a nice breed, but... Just Westie face atrracts me I love Huskies and Malamutes head-types and Westie-head-type. Westie looks a little bit more Gentle then Scotish Terrier A little bit browsed about Westies, and noticed that they're a lilbit similar to humans. Westie sleeps 13 hours a day, and ussually Westies loves to watch TV Shows about other animals. It's known that some owners recorded few shows for Westies to watch. That just makes me to love theese cute dogs :x

Heh, they're beautiful, but not quite sure if Miniature Siberian Husky is available in Lithuania. Also, Husky and similiar dogs such as Alaskan Malamute and Alaskan Klee Kai needs alot of space and alot of excersices to not to get boored Not quite sure, if I'd be able to run for 1 hour with a dog nearby  :roll:

No thanks, Westie is better D: Hopefully after 10-15 years, will live in a house and will get a Husky or Alaskan Malamute :o
