If you don't already know about the SETI project, here is a little intro. SETI stands for The Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, in short SETI projects use scientific methods to search for electromagnetic transmissions from civilizations on distant planets, hence the "Extreaterrestrial Intelligence". Now, SETI at home is, well, just that. You use your idle computer power to download and analyze radio signals from a SETI project. In their own words, "SETI@home is a scientific experiment that uses Internet-connected computers in the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI). You can participate by running a free program that downloads and analyzes radio telescope data." Sounds simple? Good, because it is.

This is something that is fairly interesting, I recommend you try it. You can read all about that data your analyzing. You can read from which array it was taken from, from which angle is was taken at, and the date. I use it because, well, I mean come on it uses idle power and helps the people whom are overloaded with data. So, if your interested, want to learn more, or whatever, check this links. All you have to do is install the application. Once you enable it, it uses idle power, power your not using, to analyze data collected from satellites. You don't really do anything, but your computer does. It analyzes data that was collected from space, and sends it back to them. You just run the program, and it does all the work with idle power. It can slow down some old systems though.

sdr stands for software defined radio - you can use your computer and front end receiver connected to the soundcard and togheter with a software it will act like a radio receiver.

Funny you say that because there is this radio kit in which you can broadcast in close frequencys but I can't get it for a few reasons, mainly because I just don't have the money to shell out right now and I live less then a mile away from our regional FFA center, so they don't allow you to broadcast very far at all.
