Thoughts on I9....
The group started as one of the many innovative ideas from its founder. By making a small selected group with close contact, it became something people wished to join. The purpose was not to keep people in, but to train them and let them become known members, as well as welcome new players and guide them in to the habits of Argonath.
And initially this worked extremely well. The location of GS9 was the perfect place, as new players would be drawn to a group of people once they reached the usual starting place of Pershing Square.
While not always in line with all Argonath Vision, still I9 became a good influence on play and created many interesting situations.
The first time I9 met difficulties was when we interviewed the then new leader Jethro_Smith for the possibility of becoming official. Our criical way of questioning, which other groups with more experienced leaders could counter, was taken as accusations towards the group. As the questions were miscommunicated other members of the group took offense and I9 closed.
But not for a long time, as the misunderstandings were solved.
However over time the group of I9 seemed to be running out of ideas. While still prominently present, they engaged in a repetitive scenario of one memeber provoking suspection, then the others joining in in creating a rather DM-like scenario. The more fresh and innovative roleplay seemed to disappear, and while I9 was still one of the main sources of help for new players, the constant repeating scenario was annoying several people. This lead to a confrontation with the owners, from which I9 once agin shortly shut down (with some help). I9 now felt they were wrongly accused of being DMers and became less active.
As I9 has failed to maintain the high standards they have to live up to, and seemed to be unable to revive their once exemplary roleplay perhaps closing the group is the best option.
Argonath thanks many great players to the efforts of I9, players who we hope will be able to continue long in to the future and who might create as great and exemplary roleplay as I9 was once capable of.
